Duncan SLD-1 pickup in a non-Danelectro guitar?

I have this SLD-1 (lipstick tube for Danelectro) pickup I'd like to tinker around with, but the only guitar I have to put it in is a Washburn. It looks like the screw holes would line up, is there a reason why it won't work in a non-Dano guitar?

I can't think in any at the moment... That'll be perfect is you are able to install it. Tone it is a subjective thing so you will se if you like it o not.

Wow, thanks! The forum didn't email me about the reply, I thought everyone was ignoring me!

:)

I have another question about the SLD-1 though.

The wiring diagrams only show a black and a white wire, but there are three wires on the actual pickup, a black, a white, and a bare. What do I do with the bare?

Bare goes to ground. If you look on this schematic, lipstick_tube_version1, even though they only show the black and white, you can see that it says "black and bare".

Thanks.

ANyone have a ny suggestions for another single coil to put between the SALD-1 and a Duncan Performer Buck Shot?

Odd combination, I know. Its basically experimental.

I'm not looking to spend a whole lot. I bought both of those pickups for $20 each on clearance.

How about the Mighty Mite pickups? They're only $20 each on guitarelectronics.com.

I've also considered a Duncan Hot Rails, or Cool Rails. But I'm not sure how they would work in a middle position.

Welcome, the forum sometimes used to have a problem, and it may still do (i dunno i dont use the email updates), which meant it didnt always email people when thier threads are replyed to, so its probabaly best to periodically check back rather than rely on emails.

I dont have much to say about the thread but what you are doing seems interestng, some feedback, and maybe even pictures or soundclips of your guitars would be very cool if possible when finished.

:(

The SLD-1 won't work in my guitar.

The legs under the pickup are too long, and push the top of the pickup up against the strings, so off to ebay it goes.
