anybody else using these?

just placed an order for a BuzzBomb 2x12 since my Mesa 4x12 won't fit in my car. haven't ordered speakers yet but I'm thinking maybe Eminence Lynch V12s . . . so what setup does everybody else have?

Re: Ear Candy speaker cabs

They're building my Buzzbomb for me right now. Black tolex back and sides, clear mahogany front, Emi Governor and Wizard. I'm super stoked. I've been renting Mesa Recto 2x12 cabs for gigs, and they're pretty good, but this thing is going to kill. If not, I can always swap the speakers.

nice!

I went all black tolex with a black/silver cane grill for the old-school Marshall look. My Stiletto Ace is styled like a JMP MK II so hopefully they'll match.

I've heard good things about the Governor and Wizard - that cab should kill :headbang:

Did Tim @EC tell you about how long the avg. wait time is? I was guessing 6-8 weeks.

Re: Ear Candy speaker cabs

I have CL80s in mine. It sounds so big I sold my 4x12 after I got it.

The suitcase-like handle and rollers were expensive but made it much easier to cart around.

Re: Ear Candy speaker cabs

I got swamp thangs in mine. Love it, though feelin the need for a little more upper mids. Thinkin bout replacing one of em with a tonker.

lol ... we even have the same amp! My Ace is the best piece of gear I own. I figured it deserved a great cab.

Tim (who is a really great guy BTW) told me it would be ready early March. I ordered it early January. They are running a little behind due to a snowstorm and a guy out sick.

I thought about that, but I realized that the only time I ever had problems with a cab is on stairs, and the cabby-cab option won't help me there. I went with the side recessed handles. They seem like the most practical option given the dimensions of the cab and the dimensions of yours truly :)

that's cool - I was guessing 2 months.

make sure you post some pics of your setup when the cab shows up! I want to see what I'm up against :D

thanks to everyone for the input so far. I purchased a CD from GTR Audio with studio samples of a 40 current production British-voiced guitar speakers to help me out with the speaker decision (they tested Celestion, Weber, Scumback, Eminence, and Jensen)

I also need someone to buy my Mesa 4x12 so I can afford the speakers!

Re: Ear Candy speaker cabs

I love mine. I got a bare essentials cab. All black with the circle grills. I had originally ordered it without speakers, but about 2 weeks after I ordered it, my EVs I had in got ripped by my brother.... and re-coning was going to be too expensive (these were EV force not the EV MLs or whatever they are.). I explained what happened and Tim recommended his Green Machine speakers, and even gave me a little deal on them! It took FOREVER (it seemed!) to get the cab, but it is great.

I always look at my lil' quarter stack and think 'it should be bigger' but when I try out different cabs it is just not there... the focus and clarity is great, and there is plenty of bottom end chunck but it is super tight. My only regret is not getting a grill cloth ala marshall.. the circle grills look to metal!

are the Green Machines ok with your JCM 800? my Stiletto is similar to a hot-rodded 800 - nice and bright - and I was worried the GMs wouldn't be warm enough.

Bassman into 2x Marshall 1960B's. Stock cabs.

Would LOVE to try the Buzzbombs.
I was told they are simmilar to the Genz Benz G-Flex . . . any truth in that ?

Are you serious ?
A 2x12 sounding bigger than a 4x12 ?
Is that possible ?

The Green Machines are very neutral and let the amp do the talking... can handle any thing really. Very very tight, but not sterile if you know what I mean.... they also don't have the weird high end that I hear in EV speakers, but they kinda do the same job. They are not too bright at all, but if you dial the amp bright they can be bright. I swapped out a couple speakers to compare (Eminence Wizard, a V100, Celestion GT75, Eminence GB12) and always came back to the green machine. They are very clear and don't break up AND they really need to be cranked to be appreciated (at least with a tube amp) but I really dig em.... if you like more speaker breakup then I like the GB12s for that, but they don't cut the same.

It def sounded bigger than my carvin 4x12 and my peavey 4x12 and really sounded better and bigger than the vintage modern cab I was gassing for (I took my setup to GC to check!!!!)... I have not run it up against a bogner cab or a splawn cab which are supposed to be sweet.

Re: Ear Candy speaker cabs

Can anyone compare and contrast Ear Candy cabs with Avatar? I'm getting a new 2x12 in the near future and would like to hear people's experiences before I buy.

Re: Ear Candy speaker cabs

Avatar is up there with the bang for buck ratio... you get allot for very little compared to the name brand stuff. That said the Earcandy I have blew away my buddies avatar 2x12.
