Easiest, most straightforward mod to do to a gain based pedal:

Just thought I'd throw it out there for all apprentice modders like me out there. Replace one of the diodes by a LED, or add a LED in series. You can also swap out the stock 4148 for a n4001 for instance, or different types.

The LED in series with a stock diode will add a lot of boost to it, and I also feel it makes the pedal more gainy but that could just be due to the added gain from your preamp since you're slamming it harder.

So if you use a TS or boost to get a bit more gain but lack a wee volume boost, you'd then get both basically.

IMO - just buy one you like better. Must be a thousand choices in this area.

Yup.... plus, once you start modding, you'll NEVER be happy with stock, off-the-shelf anything :)

isnt it like that with everything??

i only believe in custom made or modded now. stock can blow me.

:laugh2: I so relate now! The only pedal I haven't touched is my Big Muff. And the Guv'nor but that's not mine. It's really asking for a change though :(

Modding FTW :smokin:
