Easiest way to add a 2nd leg to a pickup wire end

In the wiring diagram in this article at Premier Guitar...

... it shows the white wire from the neck pickup somehow being split so that the one ends goes to a coil split switch, and the 2nd leg goes to a series-parallel switch.

What is the easiest way to add the 2nd leg to the white pickup wire, without having to splice into the white wire? Could i even do something like keeping the white wire as-is, sending it to switch #1, and then wiring one end of a 2nd wire to that same lug, and the other end of the 2nd wire to switch #2?
