I'm browsing used guitars today and I find someone selling a EBMM Y2D w/ Floyd for $500 OBO. I know this is a great deal, but is this the kind of thing I could flip in a week or two for hefty profit? If not, there's much less incentive to buy it, as I would have to scramble to get that money and may even need to sell it.

But I've wanted a Music Man for a long time and I was just thinking today of how awesome it would be to have a Floydstick. I've never been disappointed by any EBMM instrument, so I know I could just pick it up and leave (after checking everything to be in working order of course). The ad even says it was played only once.

Should I do it?

if the frets are still fine, it would sell in my country for almost 1750 dollars.

That seems to good to be true.

I dunno man, they even had a picture of the manual in perfect condition. Most stolen guitars don't have manuals. I guess if it's not real the only thing it could be is a scam. They gave a phone number, I guess I'll just give the person a ring.

Wow! Do it, it's a beauty.
Better hurry before it's gone.
If you can't pick it up personally, maybe he will accept a pay on postal delivery option if your worried?
Good luck

Nah, look closely at the first picture. You can clearly see that the low E string is broken. Those are really hard to fix!

My guess it is stolen. Check the sn on the Ernie Ball forum. He could get 3x that all day. This doesn't sound right.

Contacted the seller and it's still available.

Hypothetical - the guitar is stolen. I buy it without knowing that. The seller finds out that I have it and wants it back. It's fair to ask that he pay for what I put into it, right? I think so, but maybe I'm wrong.

(Corrected to say what I think you meant...)

I am not a lawyer, but...

Stolen goods still belong to the original owner. If you buy stolen property, you can be charged with receiving stolen goods, though it would probably depend on whether you knew the item was stolen, made any attempt to verify ownership, etc. If the cops show up and find that you have someone's stolen guitar, they will confiscate it and return it to its rightful owner.

You have no expectation of reward or compensation in that case; the owner may give you a reward if they feel like it though. You would be out $500.

i don't think you mean the "seller". you mean the person from whom the guitar was stolen.

Re: EBMM Steve Morse Y2D Floyd Rose for $500 - yes or no?

Anybody that buys a guitar of that caliber knows how to change the strings, even if it is a floyd. I'm thinking this belonged to a family member or a friend of the person who's selling it and they don't know or care what it's really worth. I got some money from the band fund today, so as soon as the money I made from my last pedal sale hits my account, that ***** is mine. It's got pretty much everything I want in this kind of guitar. I can't believe how lucky I'd be if this is legit.

If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Something doesn't seem right here.

If you don't like the bridge pickup, I'll take that off your hands. ;)
