Alright here it is, my Laney does not have a reverb, I've been looking for the reverb thing for ever, and can not say that I love EH's Holy Grail series, its a little icypicky ... I am pretty much 80% metal as far as my needs go, everything from classic Priest, Accept, Savatage to Nightwish, Stratovarious, EdGuy, Heaven and Hell(Iommi) as well I just love that echoplex sound of Blackmore from first Rainbow album as well as the overall reverb/delay sound on YJM's first album, so here Q do you guys think I will kill a lot of birds with one stone by using the Ibanez AD-9 re-issue's slapback ?

Possibly. I think reverb is overrated for real performance for the most part (except for surfy spring sounds and ambient washes) it muddies stuff up too much. Delay will give you the ambience you are looking for without being lost in the mix, especially for metal. The AD-9 is a nice choice, just make sure the delay time is long enough on it's max setting for you.

The Digitech DigiDelay is cheap, and has a great analog delay setting. I bet it'd cop that Blackmore tone really well.

i've been doing some research on delay/echo units. check out the guyatone tube echo. i think it's around $200. they have clips on the website. seems like a great sounding unit for not too much $$$. the other guyatone one, i think it's the md3 sounds really good too. not as versatile but cheaper.

Well its a bit out of the budget, but I will check it out, digital stuff I don't buy religiously. AD-9 price is the maximum of budget I have.

Most good delays, either digital or analog can simulate reverb effectivley. The AD9 can do it well, as can the DE7 and any Boss or the DigiTech which as mentioned.
