has anyone used an echoplex to drive an amp?
and could you compare it to something available now?
Thanks, Dino:jester:

Thats what I thought he was talking aboput as well...
You can't really use an Echoplex to push your amp into overdrive but you can use it for the BEST echo/delay box EVER...
I just bought Lew's and am completely converted...there are loads of pedals out there for delay and some of the new digital pedals can get pretty close to the tone of a real Plex but not even the Line 6 stuff is exact!
No it isn't. There's nothing like a real Echoplex. Glad you're liking it so much! Really organic sounding in a way that no other echo is. Remind me again of why I sold it to you??? LOL! Lew

Having used a Fender (tape driven) Echo, Maestro Echoplex, and Roland RE-201 Space Echo - all suffer from the following problems:
- Wow
- Flutter
- Noise
- Wearing out
- Recording and play back heads plug up from tape oxide
- Tape replacement (Real pain in the bottocks)
- Need for electrical power
While I agree with Lew that there is nothing like a real Echoplex.
