ED ROMAN Guitars....anyone own one, how do you like it?

I've been reading alot about ED Roman guitars particularly his Quicksilver model. Does anyone out there own one or have tested one out...is it worth all the hype he puts behind his guitars?

While I generally dislike the man, if his guitars play or sound as good as they look, then they're amazing. Some of those Roman guitars I saw cosmetically owned even some of the upper elite manufacturers out there like Dave Thomas McNaught.

If you ever go to Las Vegas, you must make a point to visit his World's Largest Guitar Store. It's like GC times 10.

When I've gone there, I've picked up his guitars, and found them to be well made instruments. The problem is that his reputation hurts their resale value, and the guitars seem overpriced to start with. That means you'll lay out $1600 and if you ever sell it, you may end up with $600.

Well I don't trust his hype. I found one of the Ed Roman Bakers used in Sam Ash recently. His site claims tehy're better than the original Gene baker Bakers, and it's just false. His Bakers feel like nothing more than Schecter Diamond Series imports. Not necessarily bad, but overpriced

I'm not going to say anything bad about the man. I don't know him, but be prepared.

I don't think anyone would admit to owning one :laugh2:

I went to the SEMA show in Vegas, just got back. My wife wanted to gamble in MGM so I took the boys to see Ed Roman up the road. Parked next to a nice Bently thinking maybe some famous player is in there...LOL
WOW! It's huge. Guitars everywhere, custom painted bodys and unfinished neck throughs hanging on the walls. A bunch of used Gibbys and Fenders, pointy necks galore and Eds guitars. Huge acoustic room, not many amps. Nothing really knocked my socks, but the Elliot Easton Gretsch looked real nice. The staff seemed really uninterested, maybe pegged me as a tire kicker...hehe. I saved 2 hunnert to buy a nice tuner, yes, I CAN control my gambling dough...but the dude said they were out of tuners???? Just got a used Peterson off craigslist last night..oh well.
It's BIG for sure, but it feels like a warehouse and does'nt have the vibe of the smaller guitar shops we have here. At least I can say I've been there....oh yeah, I guess that was Ed's Bently, the Lucky Charms dude walked out just before we did, and it was gone when we left.

That's the same thing I think. I just consider it something to do when I go to Vegas, just like seeing another casino...only this one has 8,000 guitars.
The salesmen look like they hate their job, and half the guitars don't interest me.....but they DO have a lot of ones that I like. I've never seen any store that has ALL the signature guitars. They even had a Seymour Duncan Esquire last time I went. I never buy anything....I just wander around and check out all the eye candy. I wish that place was 2 miles from home!

One time I went, Boz Skaggs was in there talking to Ed Roman.
