EMG 60a

Anyone ever tried one in the bridge? With the A5 this might work well in the bridge. I'm thinking tonally this could be a somewhat slightly brigher 85 with less output. I've heard the regular 60 but not the 60a so feel free to comment.

im not sure i know the difference. i thought the 60 had an alnico magnet but i guess i musta had a 60a. its a nice sounding pup, best cleans ive ever heard from an emg. more vintage lp type tone, brighter and more open

Ive always kinda wondered that as well! Doesn't Hetfield use the 60A in the bridge?

I have no idea, I can find very few instances of the use of the 60a let alone it in the bridge.

The 60A is awesome in the neck for cleans and smooooooth leads :) Hetfield uses a normal 60 in the neck.

Hetfield used an 81 in the bridge and a 60 in the neck.

The EMG 60 is my favorite neck pickup....ever. It has the perfect amount of top and bottom end...extremely balanced. It can do neck shred stuff as well as have great chimey cleans. What many people dont' know about this pickup is that it does low gain stuff very well in the neck.

I would never use it in the bridge though.....it would be too bright.
