EMG history/model identification

Hello,

I have an EMG-loaded Strat pick guard that came off of my first guitar. I am actually thinking of putting them back in, since I have so much redundancy in my Strats. All have old-style pickups, and all have the '50's-style looks, except for the one MIM Strat, which is basically an early '60's look.

I am just curious. What exact models of EMGs would these be? It is an '85 or '86 MIJ Strat. I got the guitar in around '96, with the EMGs in it, and they were already pretty worn down. So they would be from between '85 and '92 or '93, probably, allowing for the wear that had occurred by '96.

Thanks.

Re: EMG history/model identification

As far as iam aware didnt EMG only make 1 kind of single coil at that time? They are still called the SA. Might be wrong on this but until the SV's came out that was the only one available

Yep, that was my question. Did they make more than one kind? And if so, what was it called (and do they still make it)?

So, if these are SA, they are alnico mags. I would have assumed ceramics.

Gold logo = SA, silver logo = S.

The SA, SV and SAV came later. Two of those models have exposed polepieces.

Are there any small white self-adhesive labels on the underside of your EMGs?

Gold logos, no labels below. Thanks for the info. These are SAs, then. I was curious of the specs, and figured that if the model was still made, I could assume the specs named on the Website are the same as my pickups.

It'll be kind of nostalgic having the thing back to it's "original" setup! I just need to refret the neck and then tung oil it or lacquer it.
