EMG strat pups

So I had to take a drive to a friends to borrow some push back wire to finish a project.
Upon getting there he has me play his new parts caster with EMGs. I liked it through his little modeler amp.
He says take it home and try it Ill grab it next time I see ya.....OK
Got it home through my rig. I LOVE these things!!! I wrote off EMG years ago after I had an 85. I allways though fake sounding sustain compression etc..
But these things are nice. Straty but long Gilmour like sustain. I may have to load a guitar with these now.

I love mine (60/S/S). Different but nice.
I also have a set of EMG Retro Active Hot 70 in an Ibanez SZ520 that I really like.

Maybe because of the preamp/buffer, but with some modellers I'm getting better results using EMG pickups.

I had three SA's in a Strat. The preamp was cool, but the pickups were just alright. Traded the full pick guard for a Harmonic Percolator

My Johnson Strat came with three EMG "Designed" singles. I kept them over a year before swapping them out. Great pups.

i used the sv in the neck and middle of my main guitar for years, not the classic strat sound, but i really liked it

I like the 57/66tws in one of my guitars better in single coil mode.

Different from passives, but really really good in their own right.

everytime I hear live a strat with EMG it always and instantly remind me of THAT 80s sound, it's like a time machine for my mind, that surgical in between position I've always (sorry) hated and I don't know why, every guy playng a guitar like that loves a ton of chorus over, it's a trademark

To each its own, I have the same feeling about the neck single-coil in a Strat: I hate that sound. I don't like the other 4 positions either, maybe the reason I don't play my Strat

OTOH, I have an ESP/LTD Strat copy with STK-S4n and STK-S7b that I play everyday.
