Just because you can't hear it doesn't mean it's not happening.

Since these things are made to conduct signals into SOUND. Then what relevance is there if you can't hear it? When it comes to music and sound, isn't HEARING kinda the point? I don't understand your logic on this at all.

I love EMG's, have a couple sets of them. Love Duncans, and Wagners too, have a couple sets of each of those too. I also like the Duncan Designed 103B (Distortion), but don't really care for the other Duncan Designed models and likewise don't care for any of the HZ's.

You may be correct, but why does that matter at all then? This is music, not math, and while there is a mathematical explanation to sound, point is, if you can't hear it, why should it matter. Explain that away, and you may be proclaimed a genious. Until then, you are doing nothing more than the internet equivilent of blowing hot air.

You say that they are living off name recognition and marketing... show me a successful company that doesn't rely in part of either their name or marketing. They have made a name for themselves, and they didn't make that name by producing an inferior product. Furthermore, you have absolutly no evidence to show that their product has declined in quality. You've spouted off before about how EMG uses old technology, never does anything new, blah, blah, blah. You evidently are also not familiar with the concept of "if it's not broke, don't fix it."

And Zerb, my German is a bit rusty (more like it's completely rusted through, tires are rotted, and it's sitting on blocks in the front yard). You're going to have to tell me what "Rede" is.

The price doesn't come close to reflecting the quality of the product.

They made their name by using hype and pandering to the 'more of everything' philosophy to music and music gear of the '70s. They make numerous claims that are not true in their lit.
"out products are superior and more modern." No, they're normal pickups with a preamp crammed in them with preset EQing and such low headroom they compress and gate themselves.

Declined? The HZs are RECENT and have NEVER had a good reputation.
It IS proke. The sustain properties are terrible and they don't even bother trying anything new. I think that's stupid.

You are taking this WAY too personally.

I have PROOF to the contrary. That pickup works completely as designed. There are NO dropouts on the outer strings....I've played them before. Does it sound great?? No....but it's a budget pickup compared to their regular line and I can think of many pickups costing more that don't sound that great either.

You have no knowledge of what R&D was done you've never seen the developers notes..etc...you have no idea what goes on inside the factory....stop pretending like you do.

NEITHER of you have any idea what you are talking about...plain and simple. Just BS assumptions to bash a company that neither of you like.

The build quality is ****e.
Just because you cannot HEAR the volume/ tonal differences VS a PROPERLY built pickup( virtually impossible, as you'd need to replace the poles alone then test) does not mean they do not exist.

The quality of the product does not reflect the price.

You made claims(stated facts) that the pickup is of crappy quality without any knowledge of what goes into designing and building them other than taking one apart.

If you're going to represent such statements as facts then that's not really an opinion now is it?


The burden of proof is on YOUR end and I do not need to know anything to call you on BS statements that I KNOW you know nothing about since you didn't design them nor have any hand in building an active pickup EVER.

And you obviously don't understand how a pickup works.

if the poles aren't aligned under the strings the cancellation of frequencies as well as output won't be the same on one half oof the waveform as the other.

I'm not worked up about this at all nor am I annoyed in the least.

However, it's silly to have people come on here and make false claims/slander about a company and product that they know nothing about. I come here to seek real information and opinions...but when people start representing their opinion as fact that is where the usefulness of this forum breaks down not just for myself...but for everyone. This is a quality forum and I'd rather not see it diluted with false claims and slander for ANY company unless you can back it up.


I'm a huge fan of both SD and EMG not to mention other companies as
well....so I have no stake in seeing one get bashed/bettered over the other.
