Re: EMGs VS Seymour Duncans

using your logic, every EMG loaded guitar should sound the same, no matter who's playing it.

No, because a person's playing style has a big impact on how they sound, not to mention the differences caused by players using a wide variety of amps and pedals. But EMG's tend to sound much more alike, guitar to guitar, than passives.

Re: EMGs VS Seymour Duncans

again...........

1 basswood guitar and 1 mahogany guitar with EMG's will sound more similar to each other than the same 2 guitars with PAF's.<--- simple fact.

You have no talking points aside from dragging up my quotes from a year ago.

I never claimed otherwise.
I did however question your arguments on the subject when your first said every guitar with EMGs sounds the same
and when I gave you 3 clips with 3 different players, ALL USING EMGS, you withdrew that comment and said that

Everyone knows 2 guitars with identical tone can sound completely different in the hands of different artists.

which obviously, if all EMG loaded guitars sound the same, simply isn't true, because if it were...well...then the 3 players I presented to you
(Zakk Wylde, Reb Beach, Gary Moore) would sound the same, since ALL those clips had guitars with EMGs.
Yes, every player is unique and doesn't sound like the next guy, hence, your anti-EMG argument falls right where you stand.

You have no talking points aside from dragging up my quotes from a year ago.

a year ago? well, if you count March '12 as a year ago, then you oughta' check your time perception :naughty:

Re: EMGs VS Seymour Duncans

Lol dude you posted a clip of a strat with single coil EMG's with one guy and another with humbucker EMG's through different amps, on different stages, in different hands. No **** they sound different. Take a plywood strat and an alder strat with the same player, into the same amp, with the same settings and the same EMG's, and try to make an argument. at this point you're simply failing to see the point of THIS discussion, or just arguing for the sake of boredom or stubbornness. those 2 strats will sound drastically more similar with EMG's than with texas specials.

I see the Sword from Austin also uses EMGs through their oranges some:

Re: EMGs VS Seymour Duncans

:haha:

But Seymour has the majority of "perfect" pickup sets IMO. Just Seymour really lacks in telecaster stacks/noiseless pups. EMG actually has a telecaster set I am very intrigued by. But I mainly prefer passives so Seymour, GFS, and Dimarzio. Would like to try Motor City.

Seymour makes Tele pups that sound like Tele pups. EMG Tele pups sound like EMGs in a Tele...

EMGs sound like EMGs no matter what guitar they are in.

Just to prove you wrong:
This is the sound of an EMG 85 in what you could call the "EMG sound":

And now this is a 85 too:

And now tell me they sound the same or they sound like the same EMGs :scratchch

I've used EMGs for a lot of years and tried several guitars with EMGs. I had EMGs in my Gibson Les Paul, and I had EMGs in a Schecter Hellraiser. They sounded totally different.

Cheers.

Re: EMGs VS Seymour Duncans

I used the EMG tele pup for a while, and it didnt have the spank/twang i expect from a tele. I had to add a lot of mids, treble and boost to get anything out of it. With a hot-for-tele i just used my normal settings and got good tele toanz. Hell, even a split custom8 makes better tele tone than an EMG RT.

I would have to say this is not necessarily true. From the tele emg clips I heard, it still has that twang, but can roar if you want it to. But I'd change my opinion if I end up trying it and I'm wrong.

Re: EMGs VS Seymour Duncans

8 out of 10 guitarists encountered casually are guaranteed to have either Seymour Duncan or DiMarzio installed.
