Eminence Legend 1258 speaker, 75W and 8 ohm. Any good?

Might buy a oversized 1x12 cab, custom built for somebody else, with that speaker in.
Good, great, bad, crap?
I want it as a sidekick for my Cube 60, which has some trouble with spreading out the sound live.

I use many types of tones, got a few dirt pedals so I normally go from chimey Vox sweetness to deep heavy Mesa tones on the same gig.
Is it a versatile speaker? It's used so it's been broken in.
Thanks!

Emi Legend is somewhere between good and great depending what you like

Re: Eminence Legend 1258 speaker, 75W and 8 ohm. Any good?

The Cube sounds a bit fizzy in the highs and cold in the mids, hopefully the cab + that emi will fix that?

Aaaaand it better be good, because the cab's gonna arrive here on tue/wed give or take.

First time I've bought an extra cab. It's only a 1x12, but I'm stoked! :)

Re: Eminence Legend 1258 speaker, 75W and 8 ohm. Any good?

hehe ... external cabs are the bee's knees!

I have three 1x12 cabs ... two 2x12 cabs ... and two 4x12 cabs. Running a full stack is still my favourite way to play guitar, but most times these days I'm running my Rivera 4x12 cab with two heads, which is wired as a dual 2x12 config ... my other 4x12 is a vintage Hiwatt.

I'm sure you will like the flexibility it can bring to your sound.

Yeah, it looks like a fun game. :D

I've been reading that the Emi Legend 125 speaker is very focused sounding and not really bassy or thick sounding or anything like that.
I'm slightly concerned that it won't complement my Cube. If it doesn't, I'll replace it with a Emi Swamp Thang.
That speaker apparently sounds huge.

The Swamp Thang is one of the sets I have in my Rivera ...

Does it sound huge? Not as huge as the Wizard, but much more open sounding with a more neutral midrange, fo sho.

if the price is right go for it I'm a pretty big fan of Emi speakers the Legends I've tried are no exception sounds to me like it should get you in the ballpark of what you are looking for but of course YMMV. Try it if it doesn't work sell it and try something different.

that cabinet sounds like a good investment......

but....when are you going to get around to getting a real amp? There must be a dozen dudes at least on this forum who will look after posting it to Chile etc.
Seriously, cubes are cool for what they do, but once you get a real amp you will never look back. I know you like versatility, but a couple of pedals (even fairly modest boss ones) will give you more rewarding and rich sounds than any model available in a cube.

Re: Eminence Legend 1258 speaker, 75W and 8 ohm. Any good?

I'm just lazy, man... Being honest, the Cube works, and that's good enough for me.

Most of the shortcomings I've had at gigs have been a case of me ****ing up rather than the amp falling short.
On my last gig I got a damn near perfect sound. I loved it.

I'm not really that much of a gear/tone guy.

Oh, forgot to say that I just use the JC120 model, with dirt pedals in front.
The onboard dirt models aren't very good, except the Vox one (British Combo) which actually sounds better as a Marshall than the JCM model which is goddamn awful.

I use tube amps but the Cube is actually a pretty good amp regardless of price or being solid state I'd say if it ain't broke don't fix it but the idea of getting an extension cab is a good one. let us know what speaker you end up with and how you like it

Re: Eminence Legend 1258 speaker, 75W and 8 ohm. Any good?

The new cab is here!!

So far, it's terrific. Oversized indeed - way bigger than the Cube 60 despite being only a 1x12 cab.

Soundwise it's amazing. It counters the Cube's cold tone and adds a lot of mids, punch and warmth.
I found myself backing off the mids, that's a new one!
The fizz is pretty much gone, too. I'm really impressed.

Clean it sounds sharp and ballsy. Dirty, it adds a raunchy bite that should kill live.
Tried it at rehearsal today, the band loved the sounds I was getting.
Loving the Emi Legend 125 so far!!

Man I'm happy! :D

Re: Eminence Legend 1258 speaker, 75W and 8 ohm. Any good?

Emi really delivers a great product for a great price I'm glad to hear the cab and speaker are performing better than expected.

And don't doubt the Cube's abilities they are great little amps for a modest price, despite what some people may say. Honestly if you can't get a good sound out of the Cube it's probably not the amp it's probably the player (same can be said about a lot of gear).

I just put an Eminence Cannabis Rex in the top of my *ahem* SLIGHTLY oversized 2x12...

So +1 for oversized cabs, and +1 for Eminence speakers. I love both of mine.

Re: Eminence Legend 1258 speaker, 75W and 8 ohm. Any good?

Holy moly, isn't that taller than an average 4x12??
Sweet cab and axes man, loving that double zebra look on a Strat!

Shame that my stuff is staying at the band rehearsal room.

Hey man. I struggled with the lack of mids and warmth for years but always found ways to sort of pull it off; mic placement, post-EQ work with the soundmen, pedals, etc.

Turns out the stock speaker was the problem all along.
With the additional cab it's pretty much a new amp.

Yup. It's also taller than the average oversized 4x12. 40" tall by 30" wide. It's a ****ing BEAST.

Thanks man, glad you like them.
