hey guys, i have been getting a lot of requests for some clips of this amp so here ya go!
its really rough i know and the takes arent tight at all cuz i wasnt even planning on posting it, but i figured since it came out decent itll give you a sense of the amp on channel 3 (bright, higain) and 1 (bright), on the clean channel i have the gmajor taking care of the phaser and delay.
i miked it with this weird mike jake has which i think is either the predecessor or prototype to the sm57, it looks exactly like a 57 but has a silver casing and an on/off switch as well.
i didnt take much care with mic placement, i just put it in front of the speaker and went for it, plugging it straight into the firepod and going from there, so there is definitely a LOT of room for improvement, and there is no bass in this clip either cuz i figured you guys would want to hear the amp, but yeah enough talk here ya go:

Wow, that was uniquely bright. Not what I was expecting, but still very cool. And your playing sounded tight to me.

Really cool!I prefer the roughness of Fireball better. But that amp suits your music well i think!

It's really lacking any sort of body/balls, to be honest. Probably more the mic position/mic than anything, though. I know the mic you're speaking of, though. I was offered it in trade once, and considered it, until I saw it was what they were using to talk the cooks in the back at places like Baja Fresh, Hamburger Habit, etc.

Sounds totally "you"!

Great writing too, as always ---

Where in D.C. are you? I work about 4 blocks away from the Capitol - PM me

and when are you playing out next - I gotta see it live!

i dont go for ballsy guitar tones cuz they always sound woofy and interfere with the bass (which i like fill the low end with) , i cut the low end out preemptively so yeah it sounds a little thin i agree, but this way when i put the bass in, it will sit nicely!

we dont have any shows for a little bit cuz im working on teaching the boys some new material (trying to get insomnia and a fairly dense section of juggernaut ready for live shows!)

I think the the first meshuggah type riffs sound too thin, and not ruff enough, but the rest sounds really good to me. Good stuff. that head looks like a beast.

It's one thing not to like woofy guitar tones... but to cut out the balls of the guitar track and rely on the bass for all of the low end? That's why Drawing Circles has such a crap guitar tone.

This just sounds like you took the line out on the thing. Why not try the Palmer?

Re: ENGL INVADER 100 TEST CLIP! by bulb

Yea i agree with Jeff.. when i listened to the clip alot of the guitar was just undefined. I think its overly bright, maybe mic position but I cant speak with experience there. Sounds like it has some serious potential, but you need to find it!

Bummer! Be sure to post up when you have a show coming down the tube - I gotta see it, I'm your biggest fan, haha

my fiancee keeps telling me about this "Container Store," if she ever talks me in to going, we'll try to go to the one in tenleytown

I live out at the end of the orange line and work at FEMA - I Metro in and out every day, rocking out to your stuff on the ipod

keep on melting faces,
Hunter
