Doods. I am really digging the Humbucker bridge/ P-90 neck combo, particulary the middle position and I want a Gibson, but not really feeling the 'BFG', which happens to be the only Gibson with this configuration, so looking at getting a Les Paul w/ two P-90's and putting having the bridge routed for a bucker.
I would never try doing this myself on an expensive guitar.
Say though, what do you think of this nut-work i did on a 175.00 Allparts neck the other night? ;

No, Ive been that route. A hot P90 does not equal a hot humbucker..far from it.
And about that nut. We are challenged here in San Antonio. There are no good quality techs here that I know of, and Ive tried everyone .
The guy who cut that nut you see is a gorilla who cemented it in , tehn it chipped, and there was no getting it out again. Neck ruined.
I know of a pro luthier or two in Austin, and thats where I'll be headed for any future work.

Ha.Thats funny as hell. I like to keep my audeince entertained.
I must ahve all my guitars perfect. Therefore I keep tweaking a guitr that would be fine for 99.9% of any other player. Often times i end up screwing somethign up in my quest for perfect playability.
Its like my old dog Thor .He was a great big Champion bloodline Dobie. He had the heart of a pussycat, but he couldnt go outside cause people wrere scared to death if they saw him. Any other dog could stroll down the street pretty as you please .
Theres a huge price to pay for being part of the top echelon .

Judging by your skill in removing a nut, I would definitely NOT recommend that you do the rout job yourself.
However, that neck can still be salvaged. It's still possible to remove the remains of that nut and replace it with a good one. It will end up half Gibson style and half Fender style unless you want to put a lot of work or money into it.
