Epi Casino VS. Gibson ES-330.

Re: Epi Casino VS. Gibson ES-330.

I got an Epiphone Wildkat, and I asked BKP if their dogear P90's would be a direct fit.

"No", they said, "Because the covers are made to fit that exact guitar only- we could do a rewind though".

:/

.... that didn't really answer your question, though. I'm sorry.

:)

Re: Epi Casino VS. Gibson ES-330.

I can't say about fit.

As for tone, I would expect that the Epi P90's sound different. However, I have never played an Epi P90 guitar and said 'Wow - these SUCK!' Don't know what the Ants sound like.

Standard P90 tone to my ears. I would guess they are pretty close, if not exactly Gibson P90's, which I would never change out. Don't know what Mojo Ants have that you want/need. If you need P-90's, the Epi has them.

I don't see how your title of Casino VS 330 has anything to do with your questions.

But to answer your questions, I don't see why they wouldn't fit; and I haven't ever done a tone comparison.

Re: Epi Casino VS. Gibson ES-330.

I've owned Antiquity P90's. They use alnico 2 magnets and have the tonal characteristics associated with alnico 2.

They're warmer and chewier than Gibson P90's I've owned.

No experience with the pickups in the import Epi Casinos although I like some of the sounds Gary Clark Jr. comes up with.

I'd like to own an ES-330 or nice Casino again although they're prone to feedback onstage. Have to be careful.

I always liked the way Grant Green sounded playing one.

In the old days, when Gibson made both the ES-330 and Casino in Kalamazoo, the pickups would have been interchangeable.

Don't know about now.

I have an epi casino and the dog ear antiquities, but I never installed them. However, when I bought mine I recall measuring to fit and I believe they should fit under the chrome casino covers. I also bought some spacers in case they didn’t and I needed to match the heights. The vacuum-formed black covers that came with my antiquities seem slightly smaller than the chrome covers on the casino.

Epi Casino / Gibson ES-330 = both are the same shape, both have P90's and both are full hollow.
