Epi Elitist Resurrection

Epi Elitist LP Std - Fujigen factory '05

Picked this up end of October last year, it had a headstock repair and was a really good price so I figured why not?

Unfortunately in shipping it took a worse break than it previously suffered. It was packed well but the seller didn't realize the bridge that supports the neck in the factory case was too low and the tip of the headstock was resting on the case. Box was fine but apprently it took some shock along the trip here and well, it was ugly. The rest of the guitar was beautiful so we worked out a deal and I kept it.

Since the face of the headstock is a plastic veneer it totally shattered with the break. No way it was getting saved. This was a little bigger job than I was up for so my friend's shop did the work on it, thrilled how it came out and definitely was worth the effort. It's funny the Epi logo looks like and inlay but it is a super thin decal and it couldn't be saved, so it got rebranded.

2 piece back, vert flamey mahogany which is funny being a plaintop. It's got some heft but it isn't bad, I haven't weighed it yet. Used for 1/2 a 4hr rehearsal Sunday and I still like it so since the shoulder didn't complain I'll keep it ;)

The neck pickup is great but the bridge was simliar to a 500T so that is now a fridge magnet for the time being. I put in a DA-59 in it's place and it's perfect.

Nicknamed it Suzaku and away we go!

It was ugly, I didn't realize when he fixed it he cut the open book into the headstock which was a nice touch. I didn't have it long enough to know it didn't have it

The guitar has a pretty thick poly finish so that made blending in the work a little trickier.

He is pretty good at what he does ;)

...

This is fitting as they actually produced both types of headstocks at FujiGen.

It looks great!!!

Last time I checked, LPs still were supposed to sound better after a headstock repair.

If you ever should decide to part with it, I call first dibs. I put P-Rails in my Elitist Custom so I could have some P90s. I could use one with humbuckers again.
