Epiphone Les Paul Modern

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Modern

I get it.:) But what I'm saying is that maybe the company tries to counter that opinion by keeping some unique visual elements, like the headstock shape. Squier headstocks say that Squier by Fender. That tell me that Fender doesn't try to make ppl believe that its something separate. Jacksons or Charvel don't say Jackson by Fender etc They are kept as an identity on their own, unlike the Squier line. But Epis are just Epiphone, not Epiphone by Gibson, which makes think tha however weak effort it may be, it is aimed keeping the illusion of being separate. I might be overthinking this though...:D

I think Gibson went thru a phase in the 90's. I'm almost certain that if I dig thru the pile of Les Paul's I have a mid-90's Epi with a "by Gibson" truss rod cover. Still, I agree there is more separation today.

The Muse has the tummy cut
But not the sculpted heel

The Modern has everything I want short of the tummy cut

I'm in the exact same boat. Modern (especially that awesome Caribbean Fade figured version) is exactly what I want, except for that tummy-cut absence.

The Muse looks lighter, definitely. Anyone know anything about the Alnico Classic Pro humbuckers? I couldn't find any info on them. The Modern has the ProBuckers, which I'm already familiar with.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Modern

Love that faded Pelham Blue. I really don't need any more guitar GAS just now.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Modern

This 'sculpted heel' looks like they merely contoured the body to the neck heel. Not sure that is very helpful.

Not digging the color selection either. A natural mahogany or sunburst would be a nice addition.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Modern

I actually like the colors. I'm kinda burnt out on the natural, bursts, and blacks of the Gibson line.

I played a The Gibson version, and that “sculpted heel” isn’t that much of an improvement feel wise to their normal heel. The heel on their HP series and Axcess is better
