Re: Epiphone Les Paul Standard versus Fender Standard Strat?

The new Mexicans got a better, bigger (on the block) trem, bigger frets, more powerful pickups, shielded electronics cavity and some new colors. Every single one I tried was a great axe though one had an offcenter bridge :s It didn't impede playability or sound, but you gotta look out for it.

Okay..

If this one is 2 years old, is it a upgraded one?

If its an old one, what would the specs be?

Rid --> Yes you would, because deep down you do actually care about me and is not a insensitive mofo.. :D :D :D

Aww look at them fighting. Cute.

It'll have different pups, a thinner trem block (some say = less sustain, I never compared the 2) and thinner frets (not vintage thin/low but not really big either. I never found them a problem and trust me I like BIG frets)

Cool, but it is still 9,5" radius right?

The problem with my Classic 50 was those small frets that I couldnt stand.

We arent fighting, we are discussing in a apropriate and adult manner.. This is simpler me telling off a little boy, remember he is just 9.

Vashe the stampede.....pulls out the gun...aims...takes out Von Ho's toobescreemer with a single shot.

Lool infront of the ENGL it wasnt nasal, infront of the marshall it aint excactly non-nasal.

I like my Distortion+ alot these days, it is cool that they make them with germaniums again :)

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Standard versus Fender Standard Strat?

Here they are like 700 new.
Denmark, my bad. I just heard you guys lead the world in per capita candy consumption. Interesting.

I haven't played a new Epiphone LP in probably 4 years. Do they still make them in Korea or are they all Chinese, etc.?

the big difference is those frets for sure.... for me my newer 06 MIM Standard strat feels like i can fly across the board mean while my older ones with the smaller frets i feel the fingerboard under my fingertips and i hate that... but i still use them as they are amazing axes for the cheap prices i have paid for them used.... I'd like to buy an Ice Blue one like the one you have bought if i can find one used.... that colour has been discontinued... i also like that Greenish colour Fender had on the MIM Standards for a short time in the 2003-2005 period... i saw one of those pop up a few months ago but i talked myself out of buying one as i have so many MIM's as it is...

I was just teasing :D

Still the same radius yes. I like that 9.5 quite a bit.

Me too... I am just too burnt to be really funny today... Woke up and couldnt move my right arm, and had cramps in it, it is working now.

I then was stupid enough to try playing guitar and it hurt like hell... So besides getting a guitar it has been a bad day :(

9,5 is great, it isnt as flat as my 16" charvel neck, and not as round as a 7,25.

PFD --> I am sure.

Whofan --> Well I could allways get a refret if it is really bad. But it is quite nice to learn to play on something else than a XJ fret neck :)

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Standard versus Fender Standard Strat?

Your Charvel should be 12 to 16 no? Mines are. Not sure about the contemporary (toothpaste) series.

7.25 is too round for me and it frets out easily. 9.5 is comfy and doesn't fret out with the string height I like. So it's the best of all worlds for me :D

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Standard versus Fender Standard Strat?

It is 16 I think, it has a very slight curve. Rid said it was 16 if I recall correctly.

9,5 is great yeah, I think I will scallop this one in the future, tried a JEM with the top frets scallop, and compared to playing a XJ fret guitar it aint much of a difference. I liked it :)

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Standard versus Fender Standard Strat?

The difference between MIMs and upgraded MIMs are negligable. I have three MIM Strats, two of which are 05 and 06 respectively. The 06 one was supposed to be an upgrade, but I honestly could not tell the difference between that and its slightly older brother.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Standard versus Fender Standard Strat?

V's look cool, so I voted for one - you don't need tone when you go on stage with a V... ;)

But seriously - there's a reason why the Strat is winning...
