Re: Epiphone So Cal 50... looks cool!!

Saw one listed around $600 Canadian at Long & McQuade last month. Very interesting...

It really does sound pretty nice. I'd be curous about the Blues Custom too:

30(ab)/15(a)watt, 2-5881 5-12ax7 5ar4 rectifier, 2x12 Eminence speakers

No reverb though.....

I finally tried out a Peavey Windsor halfstack, and it wasn't too shabby for a $400 head. As soon as I see one being given away for $300 or less, I might grab it, just to experiment with. To me, it sounds kind of like a 70's 50W JMP with a bit more gain on tap. I wonder how easy it would be to make a few changes, and make it sound as good as possible? I like this Peavey more than most other modern Peaveys. It does the AC/DC tone almost perfectly.

If the Windsor is as easy to work on as the VTM, it is pretty simple stuff. Each section simply unplugs and unscrews. Take it out and solder away...

The So Cal runs 499.00 street, I believe. One was on ebay for 400 today, BIN
