Ok, it came yesterday, so i've been messing around with it since then, and I've decided to keep it. My first impression right out of the box that is dark sounding. I also thought it didn't get very distorted even when cranked.
The cleans are good for jazz, but aren't sparkly like a fender. It stays completely clean until about 2 o'clock, then it gets fun. The reason I thought it was not very distorted was because i had been holding back with my pick attack.
When I finally let loose, I achieved a great, crunchy classic rock tone very similar to Jimmy Page's tone on Led Zeppelin II. It doesn't get overly harsh or bright sounding, and mids get a fair amount of emphasis.
It also sounds great with the tubescreamer set nearly clean, with the treble maxed out, and the amp cranked up.
One last drawback is that it takes a while to get warmed up and sounding its best.
All in all, I give it a 9 out of 10 in the tone department.
