Epiphone Wilshire P90?

I've seen mixed reviews on YouTube. Gushing reviews from retailers, mainly about the finish,, but some independent reviews have rubbished the pickups. Odd given, apparently, the same pickups are used in the SG versions.

P90 fitted SGs are just about unobtainable at the moment, and P90 Casinos (yes, I know, solid vs hollow, completely different animals) are scarce too. A P90 loaded (semi)hollow would scratch two itches at the same time though.

I've been "whelmed" [not overwhelemed, not underwelded, just whelmed) by the P-Rails I fitted to my Gibson SG.

Buying a $500 to $700 guitar then spending another $200 on SD P90 pickups isn't viable financially at the moment either. Not withstanding the likely my wife / a bread knife / my manly parts incident that might ensue...

I've got 2 Wilshires and love them. Neither of them have P-90s though. One has mini humbuckers in it and the other has a Distortion with an A8 in the bridge and a Screamin Demon with an A2 in the neck.

I'm a real P-90 lover, but both of my Wilshires sound so good the way they are I've never felt the desire to put P-90s in them.

Yeah, I thought so too.

Basically it looks like a less pointy version of the SG. IDK for sure, of course. I could be talking out my bass reflex port as usual.

OTOH I did spot a 2015 Epi LP in a GC for $350 the other day. Not sure which Epi LP, but an LP none the less...
