EQ pedal

Re: EQ pedal

It's a tone control on steroids. It greater precision and greater boost/cut capabilities than most tone controls.

Re: EQ pedal

I use a Boss GE-7 in the effects loop(Where it works best and is quietest)in my Vox Valvetronix head...Working out great and gives me not only finer detailed frequency tweaks, but I can boost the signal a bit also...

Re: EQ pedal

I used to use an Ibanez parametric EQ. It wasn't terribly quiet, but then neither was the entire rig. I used it to bump up the mids on my SG. Worked like a charm.

Re: EQ pedal

I´ve got an old boss graphic eq, and it´s very useful.
I´m using it mostly to cut unwanted freqs.

U´ve got to be careful ,when u turn the levels too high, the noise is terrible.

Re: EQ pedal

The more bands, the more control. Parametric ones let you pick the bands you use, which is also useful. Active boosts are in EQ pedals as well as passive cuts like the tone controls on most guitars. They can be used for EQ shaping, but many use them as gain boosts, in front of the amp they can hit the front of the amp hard, and cause certain frequencies to drive harder. Very powerful.

My favorite is the MXR 10-band EQ, but it's pricey. Also good is the Electro Harmonix tube EQ, and the BOSS GE-7 is a bit noisy, but affordable and good.
