Ergonomic Disaster Guitars?

Re: Ergonomic Disaster Guitars?

Not an SG fan either. The bridge just feels wrong to me

Lot of modern SG's, like mine, are so thin, almost toy like. I don't really like it either, but in general I love my SG. If you were to weild an old one though, I think some of you nay-sayer's might be pleasantly surprised. Lots more bulk , although some of them may nose dive..I don't think I've ever seen Angus let go of the neck on his SG's, and he keeps them tilted up.

How bout those old Norlin Lesters? In gerneral, some ultra heavy guitars..some even 13 pound boat anchors- that's got to qualify as a disaster.

Firebirds...my left shoulder aches because I have me left arm extended out high and awkwardly. Only real big "Ergonomic NO" I've run into.

Yah, I agree with you there. Firebirds are mighty unusual not just in terms of balance but left arm position. Thunderbird bass is even worse. It's another of the ones I just can't play sitting down.

I certainly don't want to sit or stand a certain way to have to play a guitar. I will add to that- anything over 7lbs, and anything with even a hint of neck dive. That being said, when ergonomic engineers design guitars, nobody buys them (except me).
