Eric Clapton has Sold Out!

Re: Eric Clapton has Sold Out!

Not to mention, it's a totally cool way for young ones to play around with some of his modelled tones. Give them a taste of what direction they should go towards when it comes to their tone.

Re: Eric Clapton has Sold Out!

Part of the sale goes to his Crossroads Center in Antigua. Unfortunately, I've heard that th epedal sucks wind, otherwise it might have been OK.

Re: Eric Clapton has Sold Out!

maybe he needs some money for his newborn ....

but at least he could have went to keeley to get a pedal built... or fultone.. or stratdeluxer

Give me a break is right... Clapton hardly deserves to be disrespected because of an effect pedal

I agree. Personally, I don't see how this is any different than other endorsements, like the EVH MXR products or the Angus Young signature pickup.

Re: Eric Clapton has Sold Out!

I haven't been overawed by anything Eric has played since the early 70s, but that doesn't diminish my immense admiration for what he did in the 60s.

That pedal does make me think of the Stevie Ray Vaughanabee pedal on the RedTele site though. :laugh2:

Re: Eric Clapton has Sold Out!

No, Eric 'jumped the shark' with his unplugged 'Layla'.

Re: Eric Clapton has Sold Out!

Stratdeluxer I dont think this is a analog pedal so its pretty much damn near impossible to mod it isnt it

Re: Eric Clapton has Sold Out!

I won't be buying it either! However, Eric didnt set out to look for a pedal to endorse. If he did, I assure you the he would probably have gone with Fultone, etc..... I am sure Digitech approached him and the only way he would agree is if Digitech sent some of the proceeds to the Crossroads Foundation.

Also, I have a newfound respect for gear of this type. Borrowing from what "Guitarist" said in an earlier post, it is a good way to get kids turned into different direction than chunka chunka chugga chugga!!! I personally think it is bunk, but I learned the hard way. I did, afterall, buy an RP300!! Now I know EXACTLY what it means when someone says a tone from those pedals sounds sterile!!

I'd be surprised if all proceeds Eric could get from this didn't end up going to the Crossroads Rehab Center.

He's just not the kind of guy that endorses something because he needs money. The guy unloaded HOW MANY guitars at the auction?

I don't think the guy has to worry about money anymore and I'd be surprised if he saw a dime from these pedals.

With that said I do agree...it is a dubious product that almost seems aimed at folks that will buy it for the knowledge that they're supporting the Crossroads center itself. If they were really serious about putting together a pedal for guitar fans of Erics they would of included the BluesBreakers era and the "Layla" sounds.

That's "Layla" as in the album with Duane Allman that every player should be issued after they've been at it for one year and not the acoustic album whose memory I try and strip from my mind with alcohol every other night.

Re: Eric Clapton has Sold Out!

Actually, I have looked up the manual and it has sounds for 'Layla', 'Sunshine', and about 5 more...never tried it though. Still, I don't buy pedals to replicate sounds I have heard before.

Re: Eric Clapton has Sold Out!

"A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this pedal is being donated to Crossroads Centre, an International Centre of Excellence for the treatment of alcohol, drugs and other addictive disorders."

If the pedal sucks, so be it. As far as Eric selling out, rubbish. He really believes in Crossroads. He has even auctioned off some of his all-time favorite guitars to help. How many of you would auction off your favorite "Blackie" to help a rehab center?

If you don't like the pedal, don't buy it. For that matter, if you wish to make a stand on Clapton selling out, don't buy the Crossroads DVD either.

How can you question his motives?

Or the young'uns could just show up and play their asses off. With a guitar, a straight cord and a good amp.

Re: Eric Clapton has Sold Out!

I'll mod it

WITH A HAMMER! HA HA

Remember.....friends don't let friends buy Digitech.
DOD = Donny Osmond Distortion

Re: Eric Clapton has Sold Out!

this is ridiculous. It's definitely not fair to say Eric Clapton is selling out by agreeing to have this pedal created. If it funds his centre then let the dude have his way. You don't need to buy the pedal, so don't complain.
