ESP LTD New "Black Metal" Series

Being a 1H-guitar lover, I have some serious boner right now!

Thoughts? Anybody's gonna grab one?

"New Black Metal Series

We’re unveiling three new models in a brand new LTD Black Metal series. The guitars, comparable in build quality to our LTD Deluxe 1000 Series models, are the LTD EC Black Metal, LTD M Black Metal, and LTD Viper-7 Black Metal. They all feature design similarities including a single premium-quality pickup, and a menacing all-black aesthetic that includes Black Satin finish, black hardware, and even a newly-designed black metal LTD logo on the headstock. All models provide a Seymour Duncan “Blackened” Black Winter pickup that is mounted directly to the guitar’s body, Macassar ebony fingerboards with no inlays, glow-in-the-dark side markers, and black binding on the neck and fingerboard."

Full specs would be nice. The M-series would be my choice of them. Probably about $800 I'm guessing?
Having a stock Black Winter sure increases my interest in it.

Nope.

After starring at it some more I realize.; Single-bucker needs a ring/bezel. Don't look right like that IMO.
Maybe on other brands/models it does, but not on this M-series.

The full specs are to be released soon. My only concern is the scale length of the EC. Usually, they measure 24.75" but this one seems to have 24 frets. So maybe it's 25.5". Hope so.

The EC does look 25.5" to my eyes.
Direct-mount looks great on the EC and Viper.

Yeah, I'm leaning to either of them. Need a cool 7 string anyway. For the first time in life, I wouldn't want to change anything. Well, other than filing the nut for thick strings.

I dig the EC. Wish they made a hardtail M series...

Big fan of no inlays and ebony boards lately...plus a BW pickup? Sold...

Those are interesting looking, not really sure if I'm sold though. I really am a fan of single pickup/Floyd rose/strat style guitars, but that one just is missing something. They are a bit minimalistic for me and I am not very educated on ESP.

i don't understand how these are considered a "New" series.
these look just like every other LTD EC, M, and Viper i've ever seen.
maybe they're all black and have 7 strings. but i dont see how that makes them "new".
btw, its not just LTD (esp). a lot of major brands seem to want to tweak an existing model/series and brand it as "new"

We'll know more when we get the specs.

So far it's a new stock pup, and single-bucker direct-mount format.

It does though seem more like "new" options more than new models.

Yeah, if one is too picky the original Eclipces, Vipers or whatever are modifications of Gibsons or Strats and not new per se. Novelty is a matter of small increments, usually.

I think they got you covered on this one. If (if) the pics are true that sure does not look gibson-scale. (my eyes are very used to seeing the Ibanez (LP) which is 25.5")

I'm very much wondering what the full M specs are. I've always preferred a wider 43mm nut with floating trems and LTD has almost always been narrower except for the Lynch models iirc. Mahogany would be nice for the body and/or wings (whichever it is),,,,,,as would a real M.I.G. OFR.
Probably a lighter wood and korean floyd if it's under $1000usd.

Also on the M, I'd like the stock better downward/standard.
Without that trademark esp binding the stock looks a bit bland anyways, but that's not really bad for the target blackmetal buyer.

If you juxtapose the pictures of the EC and the M, it does look like they have the same scale. And the M is the strat-scale by definition.
