Thinking about buying one, Im playing this old school death metal and Im wondering if anyone out there has any experiance with this guitar, specially anyone that can tell me how it is with that specific kind of music.
Unfortunately, in Iceland this guitar isnt in stock so they have to order it for me so I cannot try it.

Cheers :)

Re: ESP Snakebyte

I would say you can do the Swedish with just about any guitar as long as your HM2 is in working order...I used to play that stuff on Epi Les Paul with 59s through a Fender Bassman, the key is the Hm2! Snakebytes are killer though!

Re: ESP Snakebyte

I played the LTD version the other day and have been reminding myself that I cant afford one and dont need one.. But I SURE liked it!!!! Go for it!!

Re: ESP Snakebyte

I have the 3 ESP's and LTD snakebyte, I can tell you that it feels great strapped on, very comfy. And het set rocks. I could only imagine that the ESP snakebyte feels extra luxurious, even tho the ltd isn't far behind in craftsmanship than my other ESP's. in other words, GO FOR IT.

Re: ESP Snakebyte

Thanks guys, I also just picked me up a Gibson Explorer creamy white 84 model but Ill be also buying the Snakebyte.

Re: ESP Snakebyte

Congrats on the Explorer!! I LOVE mine!! Ive always wanted an older one without the pickguard!

Re: ESP Snakebyte

old school swedish death metal: any guitar into a Boss HM-2, through a JCM800.

New swedish death metal: any guitar, tuned to C, through a 5150 or Dual Rectifier.

Re: ESP Snakebyte

Ooh, a Japanese Explorer's always a nice toy... brutal looks AND crazy comfy to play body, nothing like its supposed brother the Flying Vee, and even exceeding strats and LPs by miles in sheer playing comfort, whatever the position.

The price in your part of the world must be staggering, though? I'm guessing north of $2k, right?

What's the neck on this ESP like, I've found some of their stuff very hit-or-miss, with the occassional curve ball surprise... Like the ESP Vintage Plus - effin gawdly playability, great crunch, crazy fast, terrifying power - and looking at it, it's just a relic'd SSS maple strat! While some of the metal-oriented stuff has neck profiles that just make you go "huuuh?!". Then again, maybe I'm just mistaken cuz they share model names, are mid-high-end or better LTD's neck profiles anything like their corresponding ESP Japan Standard models?

Re: ESP Snakebyte

Actually, never mind what I just said.

CORRECTION: the neck profiles on corresponding LTDs and ESPs are NOTHING ALIKE - to the point of being exact opposites. Just played an ESP Eclipse II last night, really unusual neck there - I'd say thick, almost U-shaped *in proportion to the width* - which is almost child- or young girl-sized. All in all, makes for a tiny would-be-fat neck, which looks kinda silly in normal-sized hands and rather baffles at first, but plays really nice.... None of that hideous "wide-flat" LTD carve, not a hint of anything in common with it. Real cool guitar, but it's just sooo different it takes a while to adjust, even... On the flip side, who ever knew that EMGs could even make such tones?

If you want an ESP - save for an ESP, never touch LTD, that stuff's got everything wrong about it... Btw, that Eclipse II? Priced $1250 *NEW*. With $999 LTD Deluxe copy thereof hanging right next to it.... NO COMPARISON.

Re: ESP Snakebyte

I just got the ESP Snakebyte yesterday and man this thing practically plays itself.
And yes Adieu, the price was around 2500 US dollars but money well spent if I must be honest, had a few of my friends play it and every single one of them said this was with out a doubt one of the best guitars they have played, dont get me wrong, these are not guys who have knock offs or such.

Playing it is like playing with butter.
