esquire project

i love the bassman 100, i think it sounds amazing

and when cranked, the distortion of my amp mixed with the pedal sounds great, but i'm not getting enough articulation, plus for some songs i'd like a guitar that's more geared towards hi-gain

so thats where the idea of another guitar came from

and i play a lot, whenever i got free time i'll play for a bit, then take a break & check this & my e-mail & such, then back to playing

I write a new song like every week, and i'm constantly taking lessons & getting videos & such

Okay cool, I didn't want to make any assumptions or anything. At least you have a head start on gear whoring. lol. I didn't start that until last year.

Maybe you need to play with your EQ. Turn down the gain and bass, and boost the mids a bit.

As far as an ash body vs. disconnecting the pots... I'm going to say the body wood will have more of an impact than pulling the pots out of the circuit.

Re: esquire project

okay, last question (hopefully)

i was dinkin around on the tone wizard, set it for tele, hard rock, rosewood fretboard, and for body wood ash/alder. For a bridge pickup, well, there was no mention of a hot rail

but when i went back & changed it to mahogany, it was in there

any reason why that you guys can think of?

Re: esquire project

I kind of get what you are doing and any new gear is always good no matter how long you have been playing. Once you find the perfect guitar and the perfect amp set up for yourself everything you buy or collect afterwards is just a big bonus.... Focus on your next guitar and amp being the ones you can't live without.. and would never replace or sell.... Once you have that perfect set up it is all down hill..... but it sometimes can be a long road to get to that guitar and amp that just works for you.... Once i got the 5150 amp i knew it was the one!!!! The other tube amps i have, 2 Peavey Classic's, a real 65 Fender Deluxe, a JCM 800.... all of them to me are not what i was looking for but are a nice bonus to own. Same with my main guitar.... i bought a few before i found the right one. Good luck with the search!
