EV12L Needs Recone

I see there's a EV12L that needs a recone near me and I was wondering if it could be reconed with a EV12S kit? I have listened to sound samples and I like the 12S a lot more than the 12L. Or would it just end up somewhat like both but not exactly either?

The 12S is a shallower basket, no? If so, will a S cone physically fit a 12L?

If the cones have different depths then it probably wouldn't work.

I want to know how somebody managed to blow one. Those things are nearly indestructible.
They cone can rub if one gets dropped pretty hard though.

I decided against the EV12L BLS speaker with a ripped cone because it would cost at least $100 to repair. Instead the seller had a batch of EV12L OEMs so I bought two of those for $50 each. He also had a bunch of other high power speakers that I wasn't interested in. I tested the two I bought and they work fine. The only problem is they are 8ohm speakers so I will need to figure out where I can use them.
