Ever tried Gibson Burstbuckers in a strat?

Re: Ever tried Gibson Burstbuckers in a strat?

Might be too bright and thin in the bridge position, but the neck could work. '57 classics may be better. They might fatten up the tone better in an alder strat than the BB's.

But im just guessing, i dont know for sure

A good pickup usually works in whatever guitar its put in.

But that doesn't mean you'll like what it does in there.
I have a Dimarzio PAF from 1978 that I have had in four guitars and it has sound great in all of them, even if the guitars weren't that great.

Re: Ever tried Gibson Burstbuckers in a strat?

How many people have tried Strat pickups in Les Pauls, or active EMG's in a jazz box?
How is that even remotely on subject? The question was whether a BB would sound good in a strat. PAF style pickups can sound very good in strats, they aren't limited to Gibson's only. BB's have a reputation as being a good PAF replica and if not a PAF then what? What qualities of a PAF replica would exclude them from consideration, given what little is known about how they would be used?

Burstbucker 1/2 are great pickups, so I'd go ahead and try it. Since they'll likely be hooked up to 250K pots, they'll automatically dial themselves into alder better.
