Everyone can Gibson flame over here if you'd like. Full 2015 lineup

Re: Everyone can Gibson flame over here if you'd like. Full 2015 lineup

If you care about the headstock, get yourself that Gibby. Otherwise, go buy virtually the same or better for 1/2 the price from the lovely people from good old Kalamazoo. Happy H150 owner here...

That is a great guitar. The one thing Gibson owners can tell you is the high end Gibsons have those moments when they perform over-the-top. When are playing the guitar and it is so in the pocket with its tone and playability you know it was worth every penny.

Granted but Gibson has introduced tons of new product and features over the years. Some of the stuff is embarrassing and some of it we laugh at. You have to give them credit for innovating and not relying on the same design to sustain the company.

i'll give them credit for trying something new. but the people have already spoken on a lot of these designs, and gibson still keeps shoving them down our throats. the original gibson robot guitar came out in 2007, and it didn't exactly set the world on fire. but it was a unique guitar and it had it's place in the gibson les paul line up. if it outsold the les paul standards i'd understand the current moves. but it didn't. i'm all for trying new things but at the end of the day i think it's insanity to not offer a more traditional les paul.

I could live without the G-force but a new deluxe is really enticing. I love a good mini bucker.

Prices from musicians friend:

$5000 for a standard premium quilt
$3760 for a flame standard
$2880 for a Traditional

I wanna know what the HELL they are smoking over at Gibson?

The only rationale I can think of for the big price hike is to make up for losses from the wood fiasco a couple years ago. They lost a lot of money from that and sales the year after probably didn't do so well for models with the baked maple and such that aren't considered "normal" on Gibson guitars. So, next step to get back above the red line is to increase prices. Hopefully the quality has also increased to justify it. They are a business after all.

The "full" 2015 lineup appears to be 1/3 of what the lineup was a year ago.

They do it because they can...peeps will still shell out the money to buy something they won't even play.
Not even joking, I've encountered people who buy high-end Martin acoustics, Gibsons, and Conklin basses just to own them...like for aesthetics alone. Crazy ass world

I really like that pale blue Classic other than the new Les Paul 100 headstock decal.

2015's are all etune , I looked at a couple. I didn't play them. I think the GC salesman thought I might , he showed me the etune gizmo.

In case anyone missed it, regular Les Paul Standards are now $3,759

Re: Everyone can Gibson flame over here if you'd like. Full 2015 lineup

Gibson can't sell current stock of LP Standards and other models.

Gibson prices the "new" 2015 Les Paul $1021.00 more than the model they made the same way one month before.

Buyers freak out and snatch up all the old stock Gibson couldn't sell.

Suddenly a "miracle" occurs allowing Gibson to lower the price of the new 2015 models down to 100 dollars above the 2014 models.

Gibson wins, and the sheep lose... again...

Re: Everyone can Gibson flame over here if you'd like. Full 2015 lineup

Why did they change the headstock logo to that ugly one? I might have missed it somewhere.

It's the 100-year anniversary of Henry's turn to the Dark Side, which happened in the sewers beneath an optimistic young 1914 Wall Street.

I'm just kidding. I don't harbor any animosity towards Gibson & Friends. I don't even have a horse in this race, children.

Re: Everyone can Gibson flame over here if you'd like. Full 2015 lineup

so the point of this thread is just to bash Gibson. this forum has really gone downhill over the many years that I have been here.

Re: Everyone can Gibson flame over here if you'd like. Full 2015 lineup

$3759 for a standard needs bashing. And I own more Gibsons than any other brand - love them. I'm pretty disappointed in the current direction.

Re: Everyone can Gibson flame over here if you'd like. Full 2015 lineup

Yeah, I am a massive Gibson fan, but 2015 changes have really been wtf bad.

With the changes coming, price and "feature" wise, I think I am gonna have to jump on a 2014 traditional when they blow out.

Re: Everyone can Gibson flame over here if you'd like. Full 2015 lineup

Then what is the Traditional?

when it came out it was, imo,the best les paul gibson usa was making, as they revamped the standard to have neutrik jacks, asymetrical neck profiles, higher price, etc. it was what the standard had been up to that point, and it was offered as an alternative to the new style, one made in a more traditional manner. basically exactly what i was saying i wish gibson was doing in 2015.

do they still make it. yes, but only in name. the 2015 traditional still has the same gforce tuners, the same wide neck, no binding over the frets, etc etc as the rest of the 2015 models. the only real difference is it isn't weight relieved.

Re: Everyone can Gibson flame over here if you'd like. Full 2015 lineup

I can't imagine that they will last.

If you recall, both Gibson and Fender decided to substantially increase their prices in 2008 or 2009, as the economy was tanking with nationwide layoffs, foreclosures, and 401(k) plans bottoming out. It was like they were in complete denial. That strategy flopped (like no one could that coming), and both had to scale back prices closer to what they were. Then Gibson changed it's target market and went on a spree introducing dozens of models under $1,000 to get sales moving again (Gibson isn't going to target the low end of their market unless the high end has stalled). Maybe this turned out to 'water down' the Gibson image and further slow sales of high end models. This latest price increase may end up the same way.

I don't really care if Gibson wants to eliminate some of the lower priced models. I'm just as happy with a good Epiphone as I am a cheap, poorly made Gibson. However, I have seen NOTHING to justify a $1021.00 price increase over last year's model except contempt for their customers... Can someone provide an actual justification (not just shady marketing schemes) for the increase? What do WE get for the extra $1021.00 ???
