Everything Axe install

Everything went pretty smoothly and I'm now ready to remove the tape and put the screws back in. Only thing I noticed that is on this 74 Strat body, the bridge JB Junior has a large black wire coming off the rear side which rubbed the routing hole. I could have sanded or filed the back side of the bridge pickup routing a bit I suppose but I think once all the screws are in it will sit flat.

Re: Everything Axe install

Are you not able to tuck it in there? Usually that will fix it.

Re: Everything Axe install

I did a little filing on the back side of the bridge pickup routing but I think part of it is the pickguard isn't exactly square or the top of the guitar isn't but by carefully pushing down with a pencil eraser as I put the screws in it seems to be flat now..
Next is to figure out if I need to do anything with the pickup heights

That's gotta sound cool when done. But I am intrigued by what was going on with all the painters tape. Normally, I just wire up the pickguard, with the two wires for the output jack, then drop her in and screw her in. Just curious. :scratchch

Re: Everything Axe install

I was having a little trouble getting the pickguard to lay flat so I taped it in place while I took a second look at things and like I said above eventually I did a little filing on the back of the bridge pickup routing ....still wasn't exactly just flop it in it everything was perfect, but close enough

Re: Everything Axe install

I saw another strat with that same set of pickups and pickguard in black plus it had a Black Jack plate and a black bridge and a rosewood neck.... pretty nice
