EVH Chorus pedal from Dunlop/MXR

Here’s a Pete Thorn demo of the new EVH Chorus. Typical Pete Thorn caveats apply (he can make a Zoom 505 sound decent) but this is a cool chorus! Apparently based on a rack chorus built for him in the early 80’s.

Its got a "Warble" to it thats non adjustable, ill pass. Not to mention its almost $400 bucks LOL.

Nothing beats my early 80's Boss CE-2

Re: EVH Chorus pedal from Dunlop/MXR

Ed's used so many pedals over the years this one sounds like a phase/flange/chorus all in one. Would be nice for more controls for $400 bucks.

I'll just stick to what i got which includes the TC Chorus/Flange/Pitch.

Re: EVH Chorus pedal from Dunlop/MXR

If you want Ed's "chorus" over the years, just grab an Eventide pitch shift product, because that's what was used.

Definitely used a lot of Eventide though.

I saw a list price of $358 or something yesterday. Maybe it had real EVH DNA on it ...

Re: EVH Chorus pedal from Dunlop/MXR

I wish this guy would do a comparison of this and their basic analog chorus for about 1/4th the price of the EVH.
This does sound quite awesome though. Great sound quality for a demo.

Re: EVH Chorus pedal from Dunlop/MXR

I wonder how often Ed has lunch with Joe Bonamassa....

I have lived my entire life of Van Halen, and somehow got by without a chorus. Especially a striped one for $400....

Re: EVH Chorus pedal from Dunlop/MXR

I really liked the sound of this. I have always had a no-EVH policy in my rig, because I think he unrightfully overshadows a lot of other 80s guitarists, but this might have me reconsider. I like how much of the original signal it retains.

Don't forget the Soldano & Eventide ...

HOLY &^$%

I hope someone tells Ed that he is using ALL the wrong gear to get that EVH tone!!!!!!!!!!! There are lit4erally 1000's of threads explaining why it is impossible to get it right with the gear you see in that picture!!!!!!!

Re: EVH Chorus pedal from Dunlop/MXR

There is NO MXR pedal ever made worth $200 regardless of the paint job. There is absolutely no earthly reason to pay $200 for a chorus.

If you WANT to do this - fine. I have an $8k Les Paul Custom. But I'll be the first to tell you there is no need for that to make any sound you want either.

Theres no reason to pay for a chorus. I've lived my entire life and have never once felt any inclination to own one, and this isn't out of ignorance either. I just don't like the way they sound.

But if EVH has one, I guess I do need one. :D

Re: EVH Chorus pedal from Dunlop/MXR

I just noticed that bottom red Soldano is striped too. Looks like he just used some tape.
