EVH- lesser known guitars......

I saw this guitar Eddie used in a Live Unchahined video, it was white with some kind of stripes,not the usuall though and it also had some circles on it. What ever happened to that and what was the deal with it?

Also the guitar on the Woman and children first album cover, it appears to be a hacked up Explorer. Is that what it is, and why didn't he use that that often , and what are those metal things on it ?

ALso what color is ? I have aonly seen black and white pics of it, but it doesn't appera to be his normal black and yellow or white and black striped guitars colors.

its a 19**(something) ibanez destroyer, he said he got bored one day and chopped out the middle section near the bridge, the paintjob is a red white and black like the rest i do believe, unless i am talking about a different guitar.

The hacked up explorer is a korina Ibanez destroyer that Ed chainsawed a chunk out of and painted red, black and white. Prior to the chainsaw incident he used it for all the non-trem parts on the first VH album. It's known as the 'shark' guitar. Ed said that hacking a piece out messed with the tone.

As for the metal things on the hacked up Explorer......I was going to guess cable tensioners, and I was right....two of them. ha ha ha

Do you realize that if someone took pictures of all those frankenstrats, while Ed was signing ALL of them, they'd go for a friggin fortune on Ebay?

It just make me think, how often does or can he play half of them, isince they obviously arebn't what he preferes live?

So it seems that some of his gutars had clear coat on them and some didn't?

most of those guitars in those pics were built for him to lure him into an endorsement deal before he signed on with EBMM...every major guitar manufacturer built him something to get him over to their side...

if you look carefully in the laSt pic you can see a peavey vandenburg that was striped up and sent by peavey...

Well I see old SG's, Explorers, Tele's, normal Strats, some LP's if I am not mistaken...
All that is not just endorsee stuff, some of those looks vintage.
He also likes old amps like Vox, Fender and such.
I wish he would play more fusion and other stuff, dunno why he never did that more often?

Are you sure it's a vandenberg? -it looks like an Alvarez to me, but I could be wrong.

Butch, the rhythms on runaround off F*U*C*K was a red fender CS tele that fender made for him during the post-kramer endorsement courting phase.
