Man, we've probably all seen him look worse, or others. Clip did sound kinda funny.
Gear looks neat, and I'm sure it'll sell. If he's out playing clubs again, and jumping on stage with Kenny Chesney and the like, I'd imagine he's gonna be getting his name out there again.

Admit it: what made the clip bad was his playing. Eddie Van Halen or not...that sounded horrible.

Yeah... although he looked a lot better 8 1/2 years ago.
He looks pretty beat up and he's been in better places, but it looks like he's having fun for the moment, which I hope he is.
I must admit the wah is kind of a surprise. I know EVH uses wah occasionally but I didn't think it was enough to warrant a signature pedal...

Years ago I worked transport for a hospital and used to being patients from detox to a rehab facility.
I got to know the counselors pretty well at rehab, one in particular I asked about why they didn't try and get patients off of tobacco as well while they were there. She kind of laughed and said that after all they've gone through, they're just unlikely to have it in them to kick tobacco, even after something like heroin or cocaine....
But let's be fair....when they have to remove part of your tongue, that's probably a good wake up call for you to give up the sticks. After that point in time you're really just not getting the point.
Let's be fair...being sequestered away in his hovel....he's not really living the rock and roll lifestyle. He's a guy that knows when Trash Day is, when the Gilmore Girls are on and can tell you how long ago it was the guy came by to fix the pool....

As for the video, it's the keys that make it sound aweful. Take the keys out and I bet it sounds better. Not to mention that it's an amatuer video on a camcorder. Not exactly the best quality recording equipment there for audio. I've got a DVD from the 2004 tour in Lubbock, TX and the audio isn't much better than that.
He's still my guitar hero.

First time I saw those shots I thought, "Man, how can that homeless guy afford all that EVH gear?". Then it sank in...
I think the thing in the neck slot is a sustainer.

The amp and cab look like the Peavey 5150II. Definately looks like a 5150 cab without the grill. Just because he no longer endorses PV doesn't mean that he has to stop playing them.
Personally, I wish he would form a new band and get back to playing rock music. he is one of my biggest influences, and the 2004 tour was just plain sad. I hope he get it together soon. I need some new tunes on my iPOD.

Looks like a fernandez sustain he's got in the neck. Yea he's getting old but everybody does.
Could use a shave and some clothes though but still the best guitarist in my opinion.

I agree.
Eddie needs to take notes from guys like Zakk Wylde, David Gilmore, and Jason Newsted on blazing a trail far away from the thing that made you famous so your playing and your songs get out there. Even EVH bassist Micheal Anthony formed a new band and toured with Sammy Hagar this summer! I'd love to see Eddie playing again with something, or someone, that has nothing to do with Van Halen because, most likely, it would be a return to form under a more refreshing moniker.

I just wish he'd go back to either the 5150 (not the II), a Soldano or Marshall. I'm not a fan of the 5150 II. Sure, the separate EQ on each channel is nice but the added gain stage made it sound too buzzy to me. If they took the original 5150 and did the separate EQs that would've been great.
