EVH Striped Series

Re: EVH Striped Series

I've been thinkng about them ever since I read about them on here about a week ago. I've got to get a black and yellow one. Actually, I'd like to get all three, even if all I do is hang them on a wall in my house.

Re: EVH Striped Series

I can't wait. It's everything I wanted in the EVH series over the Wolfgang

Jumbo frets vs. Vintage frets
Strat/Charvel body vs. IMO- Amoeba
1 11/16" nut vs. 1 5/8" nut
Arm countour vs. Flat top (on the Wolfgang Special)
$899 vs. $1399
Single Hum vs. Dual Hum
Same Wolfgang pickup
Maybe same trem- don't know yet, can always upgrade

color, graphics, wood veneer it's basically a tie.

Re: EVH Striped Series

Tough call between the red and yellow. I don't need one, but it would be a cool guitar to own just for the sake of it.

Re: EVH Striped Series

So... $900 for a Mexican-made guitar with an off-brand trem and pickup?

The "off brand trem" is a Floyd Rose, the same that's found on the $1400 Wolfgang Special and $3,000 Wolfgang. It's made for EVH by Floyd Rose, it's an original Floyd, though many have said it's the Korean made OEM version found on Charvels, Gibsons, etc...just with an EVH stamp on it.

The off-brand pickup is the $150 Fender made Wolfgang pickup.

I suspect they'll use cheaper tuners, which doesn't matter with the locking nut.

After seeing so many well made Mexican Fenders over the years, I have no problem paying $900- when it's competitor is basically a Charvel Pro Mod for the same price. Since the Japanese factory is closing down, I hear Fender is moving alot of the production to Mexico- which is also why many other manufacturers are moving out of Japan and into Indochina

Re: EVH Striped Series

Coolio. I'd rather make one than buy one, but that's at least a sensible price.

Re: EVH Striped Series

So you are going to own an EVH amp, and an EVH guitar?

You don't happen to like EVH do you? lol

I have a 5150 Full Stack, EVH Wolfgang Special, MXR EVH Crybaby, MXR EVH Flanger, and a MXR EVH Phase 90. I love Van Halen, but I have them because they are all awesome pieces of gear and they all sound great. However, I will buy a black and yellow guitar just because I used to stare at that guitar endlessly as a teenager. I had a poster on my wall of Eddie with that guitar.

Eddie with his huge bellbottoms, girls shirt with the super short sleeves in his Richie Blackmore pose?

Re: EVH Striped Series

a pal of mine has the Charvel version of the black and yellow. it's a player. very nice.

does any one know how this EVH version stacks up against the Charvel version?

Re: EVH Striped Series

Sheeeeit I like em but I'm thinkin' I'd rather make my own in true Eddie fashion.

I would too- but IMO, the average cost of building a good Charvel type guitar out of parts tends to be in the $1200 range- and that's not even counting in your time in assembling and painting. At $899, I will have enough money left over to take it for a pro setup and PLEK
