This was posted over at the JCF, close ups of the amp Ed is currently using.
It has three channels, gain, bass, mid, high, volume for each as well as individual presence for each

It has a grill striped like Franky, and a 4-button footswitch

Is it a modded Peavey, a Fender or something different.....we'll see..

wow, he actually uses the EVH phase 90..i'm more amazed at that than the amp LOL. but it seems he uses the old school Flanger and not his new signature one.

as for the amp it does seem very peavey like and he has been playing his wolfgangs live a lot again. perhaps he went back to peavey???? who knows.

did some reading and rumor has it it's going to be and EVH branded amp as seen but made by fender along with a re-designed version of the wolfgang guitar under the EVH brand, also made by fender. (these are the rumors)

on his pedalboard in the very middle of the photo is a black 2 knob MXR sized pedal.. turned sideways.... anyone know what that is?

Cool looking amps.. i figured he would go for a 3 channel oneday....

Interesting to see. My money is on Fender, but who knows.

I heard that vid he did lately. His sound was kinda spikey.

I am thinking this may be some kind of "Mode Fender".

I dig the look, but too many knobs for my tastes.

Mike, it doesn't shock me that he uses the phaser. I saw it on his pedalboard last tour. I could see it on the video screen when a camera from behind him was on. Looks like he has some homebrew goodies going on there too or prototypes of some kind.

There is also a rumour going aroung that Marshall is in the running for new amp maker !

Like i said, just another rumour, to add to all the other.

Oh hell yes.

I wonder how many preamp tubes are in that thing. If there's the same or more than the 5150 II, I probably won't like it. I like the 5150, but not the 5150 II.

I heard from someone with good sources that it is being made by Fender. Can I back this up? No, but I have no reason not to believe it. The pics of this amp were on the Van Halen News Desk Monday. The amp unfortunately uses 6L6s. It is a three channel amp. the first two channels based on the original 5150, except the clean is supposed to be much better. That is all I know about it.

If it has a lot of preamp tubes (and he's using those for most of his distortion), it probably wouldn't matter if he was using the 6L6s or EL34s :chairfall

:13: cool. fender amps rule. it would be nice, though, if they made some el34 powered amps.

i always thought it was kinda clumsy to call an amp 5150 II...why not 5152? and this one 5153? the amount of preamp tubes may scare me though, too many and it doesn't matter what power tubes there are.
i did like the tones steve morse had when he used the original 5150- nothing like VH (whose tones I liked too)..on a side note, Morse uses Engl now.

I also pray for EL34's

I wanted him to go back to Marshall and make a special custom 2 channel model - then again the amp I would envision would probably sound like a Bogner or Komet lol.
