Exact colours of zebra pickups

Another silly small question, but one of those small insignificant things that can make everythign loko a bit stupid...

I am putting a set of zebra pickups in a (black) guitar of mine, and want to change the black pickup rings for white ones to match the pickups, kinda as a contrast to the rest of the guitar and because i think it looks cool, the problem being, what colour is the zebra, will the 'white' coil be properly white, or will it be an off white creme? so I can know whether to get White pickup rings and be happy, or risk creme in the hope they will match the shade of the pickup

Cheers for the help, and forgive me if this is covered somewhere on the mainsite, I couldnt seem to find the section on colours I remember from before (admittedly it was about all the other fancy colours, and an older verison of the site)

Re: Exact colours of zebra pickups

Zebra and Reverse zebra are traditionally Black / Cream and not Black / white... unfortunately, Cream does not = Cream....

Re: Exact colours of zebra pickups

The Duncan creme color is almost an off white(Parchment)...Dimarzios are a darker and actual creme color by comparison...

Damn, I was hoping it would be white, partly due to the colour issue, there arent exactly many versions of white, but many cremes...

and I think white may look slightly nicer, but either would work

it would be £3 for a couple of pickup rings, so I might just risk it anyway if I have to though...

Re: Exact colours of zebra pickups

Just for the sake of avoiding confusion: Parchment is actually a Fender OEM Color for the PG+ in the Lone Star Strats... and it´s again a bit different from Cream.. IIRC it´s between Duncan Cream and Duncan White, but I may have that last part wrong ;)

Re: Exact colours of zebra pickups

This is interesting how the colors are interpreted. If you buy cream in a store, its white. "Creme" as it pertains to pup color really means - "coffee with heavy cream." IMHO

Re: Exact colours of zebra pickups

i think you can order a combination of any duncan color with no aditional charge from an authorised dealer.. though you'll wait for em to make one for you

Yes, you can order Black & White if you want at no extra charge. It usually takes 3 to 4 weeks to have them made though.

The whole cream thing is rather confusing because there are many shades. I have found when buying pickups rings that the cream from Allparts is very pinkish compared to the Duncan bobbins but the WD Products rings match pretty well.

You're right Parchment is a Fender term buddy...Thanks for the correction and it's more white than the Duncan creme...LOL

I own a PG+ and it's more white than creme.

It is WD I was looking to be buying the rings/other parts from, so if i got standard zebra pickups, the creme pickup rings would match them?

I may have to look into getting white/black zebra pickups instead, I just need to find out where to order them from (preferably in the UK)

would anyone have picktures of creme against white? Just to get an idea of what they actually look like...

Here are a couple pictures that might help ...

Duncan pickup next to WD rings. They actually match a little better than the picture shows them to:

Re: Exact colours of zebra pickups

What's wierd is that I have a set of Gibson OEM cream rings that match my zebra SD pickups better than they match a Gibson OEM cream pickguard. Go figure.

Those look like they should be basically a perfect match...

I am checking with one place for prices/custom colours, so I will see about getting black/white instead of black/creme, but if that dosent work, wd rings and black/creme it is :)

Re: Exact colours of zebra pickups

I have a bunch of creme Duncans from the late 70's to current day... they can vary as much as the pictures of the rings.
I will try and snap a picture later of some different ones that are not in a guitar.

Re: Exact colours of zebra pickups

just wait untill you get your pickups and then go to store with them and check for the rings.
