Exchanging reverb tank for bigger one ?

Hi all....
I recently snagged a Fender Roc Pro 1000 head with the pedal from eBay for a really good price.
The reverb tank is so weak, you can't even tell if it's at 0 or 10.

I also got a non-working Peavey VTX (hoping new tubes would fire it up, but it's got issues).

Thing is, the Peavey also came with a 17" (4 spring - 2 x 2)) reverb tank.

So, last night I swapped out the dinky little Fender tank for the old Peavey tank, and, wow, all of a sudden I'm playing in an amphitheater

This amp only has one 12ax7a tube, ( I have a new JAN Phillips on order to replace it ), and I'n not sure if this tube handles the reverb task. Mostly what I've read is that there are mulitple 12ax7s and a separate tube handles the ouput and another for input on other amps.

Question is, is this going to hurt my Fender head running this reverb tank? It also took out a lot of the background hum I used to have, which is cool.

Pre-thanks for an answer ;)

im assuming that your roc pro has a ss reverb, not tube, so i wouldnt worry about it

Re: Exchanging reverb tank for bigger one ?

yes, it appears it is ss.

So, basically, it would either work or not work ?
Because it sounds very nice.

Thanks ;)

Editing all that... if one just keeps digging and digging...
anyway, I found a nice little reverb tank chart with input and output specs for most amps.

Reverb Tank Chart

Out of 9 possibles, I lucked out and got one with matching impedances even !

You really think the reverb on a Roc Pro is that subtle? My buddy has one and I can't imagine wanting any more unless you're playing surf...in any case this wouldn't be the amp to use for surf anyway.

I feel it's best to keep to original specs on those reverb tanks.

Re: Exchanging reverb tank for bigger one ?

The original reverb didn't seem to do anything at all.

Mostly, it started off as an experiment to see if it would work swapping out tanks.
Definite improvement.

Then I found the input and output imp. matched so that solved that.
But, yes, definite improvement with some depth now
