Exchanging Seth Lovers for?

The Seth Lover bridge was a little too bright and thin for me, but I definitely wanna stick with an Alnico II mag. What should I exchange them for? Are the AII-Pros slight fuller and warmer than the Seths? Or should I just go for Gibson Classic 57's, Wolfetone Dr. V's?

Also, if a put an A5 in the Seth, would it be brighter or, warmer/fuller sounding?

The AII pro's are a very warm pickup. I have always found Seths to be darker than the AII though, so I'm not sure they will be right for you. The AII pros are my favorite HB for a vintage type tone.

you dont want to go classic 57's, they are on the bright side too

the a5 will make it brighter with less mids and more bottom.

the aph is warmer than the seths but not any higher output, if thats ok then give them a try. the neck seth is darker than the aph but the bridge sounds brighter to my ears

Thanks, the APH's = AIIPro? They 1-up the bass rating thatn the Seth's possibly making them sound fuller and more balanced. I've listened to the clip over and ove rnow and I thikn I do like the AII's, subtle differences but I think they are exactly what I'm looking for. The CC's is too thick and middy.
And I don't like the hard attack of the A5's as in the 59's.

In what guitar are you using it? I've never heard before about a Seth being "too bright and thin".

Heritage H-150 Goldtop, 9lb 2oz'r. Very balanced tone-wise axe. Massive amounts of sustain.

I had read 1 or 2 comments about the Seth being bright. Just listening two the clips of the different Duncan AII offerings, the Seths are the brightest and thinnest of the bunch, to my ears. The PG's may be brighter but not as thin sounding. The AIIPro's are a little fuller and warmer, and the Custom Custom is just milkshake thick.

I hear the Seth the same way; thin and upper midrange dominant. After trying it in three different LPs I understood why, if this was a true representation of what a PAF was supposed to sound like, so many old PAFs ended up in the back of drawers or the garbage and the aftermarket pickup boom started.

That said, I do like it well enough in my 333, although I still prefer the A2Pro or PG over it.

Yeah, PG is bright as well, but across a broader frequency range than the Seth; it sounds flatter EQ-wise to me. It has that extra snarl that can sound either heavenly or harsh, depending on the guitar. I think the A2P is what you want. Smoother and sweeter, but still bites when you dig in hard. I've found the soundbites on the Tonechart sound very much like what I've heard in my guitars.

My earlier post sounds a little harsh, after re-reading it. The Seth is a fine pickup, but it's near the bottom of my personal Duncan PAF list. In the LPs I've tried it in, I preferred either a PG, 59 or A2P. Maybe for the next one I buy it'll be perfect! (oh goody, a reason to buy another guitar!)

And this was in the same guitar? I just find that strange because the clipd do not indicate this at all. The Seth's are definitely brighter. Also, think about this: The A2's are potted and the Seth's are not, so they should sound brighter, open, and airy.
