They don't have the cymbal picks made from old drum cymbals! Nor do they include normal thickness Tortex.

I gotta admit...my Red Bear Lil Jazzer does feel and sound better...than even my beloved Jazz III!
However, i lost it for like 3 months...until i found it in the back of my wallet a few days ago...:banghead: I forgot how much better it sounded...i think i need more, in case i "misplace" it again!

I switched from the purple stubby to the Ultex Jazz. Waaaaaay better tone and it revealed that my technique sucked. The super sharp edges of the stubby just allow you to play sloppy and too deep. The Jazz forces you to improve your depth control. Now I see what the Jazz III cult is all about. I also like the nylon ones, but the Ultex has incredible attack and dynamics.
I'm surprised the article didn't mention Ultex. It's an amazing material. Using a Fender Mustang and several models, switching back and forth between the nylon Jazz and the Ultex makes a noticeable difference to me, regardless of which amp model. Maybe it's that awesome Duncan Hybrid in my guitar!

I'm a big fan of the ultex sharp picks. They're not the same shape as the tortex sharps, they're the shape of a jazz three, just the same size as a standard pick. I find them more comfortable when I'm palming the pick. Mostly I use whatever medium/heavy pick I have around.

I agree with Joe about the picks not making much difference on the electric. I think when choosing an electric guitar pick, it's all about attack and speed. Pick tone isn't really a factor.
I really liked how the rosewood pick sounded on the acoustic examples, and the casein thin pick was great too. I think I'll get a couple of those for acoustic playing.

There is a huge science and technique to picks...but nothing seems to feel just right to me except regular-shaped Tortex picks, blue or purple. The greens are too thin for me and the blacks are too thick for me. Sometimes I will drill a 1/4 inch hole in a batch of them for better grip. I bought 150 of them back in 2004 and I have only worn through or lost about half of them, if that.
I used to swear by Fender Extra Heavy tortoise shell picks when I mostly played surf music, but they just disintegrate too much for me now.
