Experience with Allparts vintage trem? Lew?

Hi all,

Has anyone ever tried out the vintage trem by Allparts? Not the economy one, but product number SB_5208-010 (the $80 one) from here:

http://www.allparts.com/categories.php?cat_id=411&cat_name=VINTAGE STYLE TREMOLOS

I need a vintage-style trem for my strat project, but left-handed. I read Lew's thread from a while back (https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?t=24908) about the weights of different trem units. I'm pretty sure I'd like to use the Fender '62 reissue one but I haven't found anyone yet that can get them left-handed. I can easily get the Allparts one left-handed, and it looks virtually identical to the Fender unit. I'd like some comments from anyone that has first-hand experience with the Allparts one. Lew - did you ever use/weigh this one?

Anyone that can shed some light on this, your comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark, You can order the Fender 57/62 reissue Tremolo in left handed, also I belive you can still get a lefty tremolo from Callaham...IMO the Callaham is a tad bit better than the Fender 57/62 but both are great trems...both the Fender and the Callaham is are arouind $100 each and IMO well worth the extra.

If you are going to spend the $100, might as well get the Callaham.

Re: Experience with Allparts vintage trem? Lew?

Well, the left-hand Callaham trem is $112, and the Fender one should be closer to $80-90, which is why I was aiming for that one. I really doubt I would be able to tell the difference, so I'd rather not spend the extra $20+ on the Callaham.

TGWIF - I've tried find places that can order me a Fender trem in lefty, with no success. Musician's Friend doesn't have them, Angela's doesn't have them in stock, my local shop can't get one, and Guitar Center hasn't gotten back to me (I'd rather not buy from them anyway). Any other suggestions?

Mark

I have not tried it. I'm a big fan of the Fender '62 RI Strat vibrato and use it on alot of my Strats. That's the one to get, IMO. Lew

all i can say is the Gotoh Vintage Strat bridge is a nice unit.... i enjoyed it's tone... it worked just fine for me... I'm sure the Callaham one is nicer but for the bucks the Gotoh one is a winner..

The weight of the tremolo block is not the same as vintage Fenders on the Gotoh's that I weighed...
