My explorer is a 76' reissue and those all have pickgaurds. I love the Thing but the 80's pickguardless Explorers are way cooler looking.

so 1 vote for pickguardless.

I usually like the classic look with the pickguard...but that Xplorer Pro looks mighty fine with its flamed top exposed.

i prefer them without, but i still love the ones with.

My '89 is routed under the pickguard for the switch.....so I don't see how I could go without it..???

I like and have had both..but prefer the guard and voted that way. It adds a nice contrast to the instrument in the same way it does on a strat vs. say a jackson.

If I get another Explorer, I believe I'd go with a black guitar w/ white pickguard.

Ill go for no pickguard since mine is like that. But i do also like ones with pickguards, kinda classier and has more of an oldskool look, wilst without its more modern looking.

I prefer none, but if I gotta have one, then Black with mirror pickguard is awesome!! I love mine!
