Okies then.
Its not my combo, its a mates one.
However, its my cab and he wants to use it for this 4 day camp we got (14 sets).
I'll let him know that the combo could get serious damage, and if he wants to go ahead, thats his choice.
But I won't let him use it if there is chance of the cabinet getting damaged.
So certainly, no cabinet damage?

As long as your cabinet can handle the maximum wattage the amp is going to throw at it, it won't get damaged. If the combo's internal speakers are working at the same time, the cabinet must be able to handle half the amp's output. If the internal speakers will be disconnected when you connect the cab, then the cab must be able to handle the total wattage of the amp.
On the cable issue, instrument cables are designed for the low voltages output from guitar pickups. Speaker cables have to handle the higher voltages that carry the amplified signal to the speakers. If you use an instrument cable in place of a speaker cable the risk is that you will damage the output stage of the amp.
Tell your mate to invest in a speaker cable if he doesn't want to fry his amp!
