Extensio Cab: Ohms Question

My amp is 60w and has 3 speakers. Each speaker is rated at 5.3 Ohms and is wired in series. So the whole amp is 16 Ohms. Does this mean if I put an extension cab on it should be a 16 Ohm cab? Because I can't find one anywhere.

Im not calling you out, buyt are you sure those speakes are 5.3 ohms?

Yeah, I'm sure. But I know what you mean, crazy.It's down to the series wiring and three speaker configuration. But they're definately 5.3 Ohms.

Is the amp you're talking about a JTM60? If so, I have a JTMC 2 x 12 extension cab which is wired to 16 ohms.

Yeah, it is a JTM60 and I've heard about the JTMC but thought it was no longer being produced

I've found the manual of your amp and it sayst you can plug a 8 Ohm cabinet to it.

I don't know how it knows the impedance you are ussing... Anyway you can use either a 8 or a 16 Omh cabinet with it. In case you want to replace the speakers you could use two 16 Ohm speakers and one 8 Ohm. If you wire them this way:

(16//16) + 8 = 8 Ohm

where "//" denotes parallel and "+" series.

Or you could use two 8 Ohm speakers and one 16 Ohm and wire them like this:

(8+8)//16 = 8 Ohm
