In short we have just changed our insurers and I had to take loads of photo's / seriel numbers etc as I have gig cover. Haven't done the amps yet, but here's the guitars....

I hope you have a specific rider on your policy for your instruments. Many people assume their homeowners insurance covers them but most policies have cap limits on each category (eg: max $10,000 of jewelry, etc).

Re: Family pics for insurance....

Thanks guys, I'm all set guitar wise. No pick up swaps required, electrics all good and set up how I like them.

Powdered Toast Man, yeah.... they are all on the policy for new replacement value although it only covers me to take 2 to gigs, but's that's cool.

Re: Family pics for insurance....

Liking the super Tele and the Gordon-Smith SG (SG with a side jack ftw). Don't see too many of those around, body looks thicker than a Gibson too. GS make some interesting guitars - I've got a review of a double cut LP in an old mag: spruce body, maple top, maple neck.

Beautiful collection.

You need to relocate to Wales mate so I can make better use of them for you .. :naughty:

Out of interest , who's the insurer and what did it cost you ?
Cheers

The Gordon Smith guitars are really underrated IMO, they use great woods in their builds and you pick up a real bargain if you've got a little patience. The hardware isn't the best but that's an easy upgrade.

It's through Churchill Ins and it was on top of our house policy as an addition. Not sure what the additional premium was as we shopped around as our insurance had gone up anyway.

Nice Mr D :)
Thanks Niels! :)

Re: Family pics for insurance....

Nice collection and great photos as well!

Also, thanks for the reminder ... I need to take the time to record photgraphic evidence and serial numbers on my gear and guns for insurance purposes and keep one set of files at the office.

Edit: I love that G&L!!!

Re: Family pics for insurance....

The insurance company is going to need your address as well.

That PRS is absolutely gorgeous. I've got a thing for Les Pauls, and I would never be without one, but that PRS is a work of art.

Re: Family pics for insurance....

Great collection of guitars there Don!

I love the 57 RI LP :32:

Always been tempted by the Gordon Smith SGs too. That one looks great!

Re: Family pics for insurance....

That's an awesome collection Don!

Nothing gawdy or OTT, love it.

Re: Family pics for insurance....

Be wary of Churchill mate, I've had really bad experiences with them in the past.

They try very hard to get out of paying up !!

I had to take them to court over my claim for stolen gear.
They basically said the only way it was covered when it was in transit was if I was in the locked car when the thief struck.
That's exactly what happened, I was at traffic lights and a guy smashed the rear window and ran off with my pedal board.
Churchill tried to class the pedals as " consumables " and as such weren't covered !!

Many thanks mate, whilst I loved the idea of having a Fender Strat and going through a few, this G&L is quite simply the Strat type that works for me... I love it too! :)

Thanks very much. The Modern Eagle 1's are first and foremost a players guitar, they are built from beautiful pieces are high grade woods, and finished so they feel like you've played them for years. Can't wait to gig it.

Cheers Simon, that GS SG holds it own in this crowd and does not let itself down at all. In fact to be honest it's my favourite sounding guitar of the lot!

Thanks Craig, I honestly don't feel I need any other guitars.... it's a good place to be. :)

That really sucks Mark and sorry to hear that and thanks for the heads up, I'm really glad you told me. I will seek specialist cover and then cancel them on our household policy once sorted. I've told my better half, we will look to change the house cover too as we pay monthly anyway. :friday:
