Fargen Epic SC Head

Hi all,

Guess I'm back to asking questions since I'm still pretty new. :laugh2: I've tried to help others out but I'm always apprehensive about misinforming others.

But well yeah. There's a Fargen Epic head floating 2nd hand where I live (Singapore), and I'm looking for a 2nd opinion about this amp. I haven't got a chance to try it yet, will jump at the chance just to hear how it sounds.

Anyone using one of the Fargen Epics? How much did you get it for, and any comments, notes about the amp?

Oh, and which speaker/config did you pair it to? If I get it, I'm deciding to pair it with my AVT50 combo for the moment while I source for a better speaker.

Re: Fargen Epic SC Head

I bought a Fargen Epic 30 DC back in December '04 for around $1850 USD. It was a great amp, but it didn't sound as Vox-like as I had hoped. I see now that his newer Epic SCs have multiple voicings on them, so it might be more up my alley.

Ben does some great work and he offers some great customer service. I ended up selling the head because it didn't have the amount of clean headroom I needed in my band. Fargen amps aren't the easiest amps to come by (practically impossible I'm sure in Singapore considering the guy is based out of CA).

If it's for a good deal, I'd jump on it. I'd try to pick it up for the equivalent of around $700 USD. Ben's favorite speaker is the Naylor SD-50 (he swears by it, I've talked to him in length about speakers), so I definitely recommend picking that up.
