trying to decide between these sets for my MIM strat. looking for low output clarity. i play alot of clean/reverb/some delay, and overdrive(not heavy dist.)

i am leaning toward the fat 50's, but the 69's are intriguing.

I Love the Fat 50s and use them....Fairly beefy, still articulate, slightly darker, and slightly more mids...I think the 69s would be glassier sounding with less mids and more highs...Both nice sets, but I prefer the Fat 50s..

I use the Custom Duncan SSL5s and the Fat 50s aren't as dark and middy as these.

I can tell you that the Custom Shop 69's are great pickups. To me they sound clear and have a shimmering sound. They work good clean and with heavy distortion. I have them in my Classic Player Strat and I'm totally happy with them.

I will soon be receiving my Eric Johnson Strat and if I don't like the stock pickups I'm gonna put in a set of Fat 50's. From what I've read the Custom Shop 69's and the Fat 50's are among the best pickups Fender produces.

i think i am gonna end up with a fat 50 rwrp in the neck and another single coil in the bridge with a 3-way switch, master volume, and tone pot on the bridge pickup. maybe another fat 50, or 69 or 54 for the bridge. also considered an aps-1 for the bridge. something with more beef, but not a hot pickup.

i am not a big fan of the #2 & #4 positions on a strat. i guess this would be similar to a tele set-up.

The Twangbanger has been a favorite bridge postion strat pickup for me for quite sometime....I have it with a Surfer(Antiquity) neck and middles.

of all those i would put the fat 50's in the bridge and either of the other two in the neck. a 69 neck/fat 50 bridge would be a cool pairing

CS 69s are probably my favorite single coil set. Great tone!

The CS Fat 50's are nice, as they have a RWRP middle pickup but are still "vintage" pickups.
