FWIW, I have snail mailed a letter to SD, telling of what happened.
I'm not sure what to expect, but I thought I'd notify them of what happened.

An update:

Yesterday I got my replacement JB pickup for the faulty one that started
this thread. After nervously installing it, the test run proved SUCCESSFUL.
It sounds great, and having a Jazz model in the neck position, the guitar
ROCKS!!

i'm about to buy a JB and see that there are some problems with these pickups

anyone knows the range of serial numbers (if they exist) of the probably faulty lot of JBs? this could be very helpful before ordering

I got one returned to me last week with exactly that problem. No matter how it was wired, it would only function as a single coil. We should mention this to Evan. There may be a problem with some recent JB's.

I am real glad this did not happen to me, the JB i bought is new but sounds great and i mean GREAT!
I would have been very bummed if i had tried my first duncan and it was defective! :smack:

My JB sounds great too. But I guess there has to be some problem with the production of someof those.

I´ve been bummed :-( :blackeye: .First Duncan and such problems. Could you imagine...I was happy when I installed the Dmz/Ibz Humbucker back into my guitar. Perhaps the guitar was the problem. Ibanez and DiMarzio work perhaps better, dunno. I´ve listened to a JB Clip by soulman and it sounds greata!
The JB was installed properly.
